parking on pavement now banned ? (anyone know if this is true?)

I'll have to remember that accidents don't count. Sorry officer I accidentally did 100mph.
I suppose you could try it and see what happens. You would be more likely speaking to the speed camera though, rather than a real policeman these days.

To the ones saying they'd scratch a car on purpose for parking on the pavement, would you scratch one in full view of a camera, Tesla maybe, or a police car?

The only time I've scratched a car was with my face when it pulled out on me.

Well he did say 'accidental' and I can certainly see how that could happen trying to squeeze a buggy or wheelchair past a badly parked car .
Exactly. I don't go out of my way to damage other peoples property, but if some ignorant ***** is blocking the pavement then any accidental damage that happens to said vehicle is of their own making. Cars should not be parked on the pavement, period. The pavement is quite specifically made for pedestrians.

IMO it's a necessary evil, but it shouldn't be done in an unsafe manor.
On our road you have to, even one car fully on the road blocks the road, but it's perfectly safe to walk down the road. You know it's not an issue when, police, ambulance and absolutely everyone else also parks on the pavement. You do occasionally get a hero type that parks fully on the road and it causes chaos people can't get to work, bin truck can't get down the road. The police came out and they pushed 95% on the pavement so what more permission do you need. Lol
In my town there are loads of roads where unless homeowners Park on the pavement the road will end up blocked. There is no off street parking and the roads are too narrow for the number of people who live on the road, so parking on both sides requires pavement parking.
Fortunately the area of town we live in sas built more recently, we have wider roads and off street parking.

Pedestrians just don't count for anything in this country whatsoever.

Pavements are already poorly maintained, uneven, often broken for that dropped-kerb parking nonsense, and still what little space pedestrians have is then taken over by some entitled motorist who thinks they can park over it.

Councils don't care and if they did they don't want to go against entitled motorists who think they have a divine right to park as they please.

I certainly have problem if someone in a wheelchair or with a pram damages a car which is parked on the pavement while trying to get past.

When I was younger I lived in terraced housing near a hospital. The road was narrow, literally just enough for 2 cars. However, the pavement was almost 20ft wide on both sides. So we took to parking on the pavement, close to the kerb edge which still left the majority of the pavement (10+ft) for pedestrians. Previous requests to make parking bays had been refused by the council.

The council came and posted letters stating that from X date (about a week later) any parking on the pavement would be ticketed. So we all parked on the road and blocked it to the point that the police were called on one day, we showed them the letter and the following day we got letters stating that pavement parking was allowed again.

About a week later we all got notice that parking bays were planned and that when a date was set they'd require no one to park on those dates. 3 months later 9ft of the pavement was dug out to make parking bays.

Council stung us all though and made it permit parking.
