COVID-19 (Coronavirus) discussion

They only just took down the screens at the tills in my little Tesco last week!
Lidl removed theirs about Oct last year.

We still have the sanitising station which is used less and less, based on time we need to replace the hand sanitiser (which i can’t remember when it was last replaced) and bin which we empty every 2 days which is only about a quarter of the bin.

Some shops I have visited got rid of their sanitising station or CBA in filling it up.

If we get rid of the sanitising station, then we probably get a few whinges from customers.

I have never wiped a trolley handle for myself or used the sanitiser when visiting shops in the pandemic. Plus some of the HS stinks. There’s one man who puts on about 20 pumps onto his hands. There’s no need to put that amount on.

Those Perspex screens must have been holding back the tide all this time.
We used to get colds/chest infections all the time as customers coughed and sneezed over us. Without covering their mouths.

Getting customers starting to put money, coupons and lottery tickets/scratchcards in their mouths before handing them to us.

This habit has been disgusting well before Covid. Why do they do it? I remember one time during compulsory mask wearing days, that a customer lowerred her mask to hold her lottery ticket in her mouth. I said I’m not taking it as you had it in your mouth. I didn’t she insisted. Even another customer saw her doing it. I asked when was the ticket’s draw for. She said yesterday. I said still got another 5 months and 28 days to check it.

Regarding the money etc in mouths. How would customers like it if we put notes in our mouths before giving it to them? Not like it one bit. So why do they think it’s acceptable for them to do it to us?

A bettter question would be why are the supermarkets taking the barriers down? When its clearly a benefit to staff.

Our sneeze screens are still up. I’m more on the shop floor now. The colleagues say they get fewer colds even working in the fresh chillers and walk in ones in the warehouse. As they move about and if see a customer full of cold, they can work away from them. Whereas a colleague on the tills has very little chance of leaving the till and exposed to the germs for a few minutes. Plus not being active contributes towards colds

I've just recovered from it. I had a week off work and it lasted pretty much the whole week, which was great...

The sore throat it started with was one of the worst I've had, felt like swallowing glass for 2-3 nights. That went away, then I developed a horrible tickly cough that kept me from sleeping properly for a couple of days.

I went back to work this morning feeling more tired than before the break :(

Sounds similar to me. Took me 2 weeks to finally test negative and I'm left with a chesty cough that got worse when I finally got over COVID, weirdly enough.

Goalposts for a winter vaccine jab moved, won't be offered as standard to over 50s this year.

would not take it if offered ... not far off in the states for a litigation into what it did or is doing to those that took it ..

There is no actual rpoof that the covid vaccine caused harm.

ALL the evidence is that any side effects it may have had were far far fewer and less sever than getting covid.

And given that evidence is now mounting that the more often you get covid* the worse the chances are of you having a "Bad" outcome the vaccine is if anything looking more and more attractive.

*The CDC in the states has recently admitted what some people knew for a while, you can get hit by covid in less than 90 days after your last bout.

well there is those that have had massive blood clots and those just on camera that have died the excess deaths of 1-2k a week since the vaccine so no real proof ... but all those that have died have had at least 2 shots if not more ???

Could that be because 90+% of the population have had at least 2 vaccines maybe?

Ah those old well debunked mouldy chestnuts.

Massive bloodclots?
A well known effect of actual covid and IIRC fairly common with it.

Wow people never died on camera before! (I'm guessing you're talking about the likes of the sports player that the anti vax sites love to use, footage from before covid...and before the vaccine*).

And excess deaths after the vaccine, you mean after covid which is and was still ongoing?

IIRC the best stats to compare the risks of not having the vaccine vs having it are oddly enough from America, where either covid is really good at knowing which party people vote for and listen to, or the vaccine is working quite well (IIRC after the vaccine came in the number of "excess deaths" broken down by party someone voted for is very significantly higher for registered Republicant, couldn't be because of the push by senior republicans to demonise the vaccine could it?).

*Seriously that one is so easily debunked, especially given you can date TV broadcasts and it's relatively easy to see when someone played for a club.

Are you referring to these blood clots?

Is it time to roll out the seatbelt analogy again that a 5 year old can understand?

If the internet was about at the time you'd find an exact same post about the smallpox vaccine.

I guess it's moved on a bit, at least nobody's saying the vaccine will cause half-cow babies. Or maybe they have, no nonsense would surprise me nowadays

I’ve got some weird positional headache post covid that I’m not sure is related.

If I stand up, bend down or cough, I’ll get a few seconds of pain and pressure in the right side of my head.
