240mm v 360mm -- cannot decide

Currently run 240 KZXT -- temps are great on the 3600... Idle is about 37c and full load on cinebench 70c maximum ( and thats with all the fans turned down )

Considering upgrading my AIO to one with a fancier screen so I can see my temps easily and for better cable management.

I am siding with a 240mm because a 360mm would mean pipes obstruct the front of my side/front fans AND an extra fan on the top right would mean blocking some of the fan on the top right of my picture

So for performance 360 is better, but for aesthetics I am sure another 240 would be the safest bet? Also in regards for futureproofing what would you recommend ?

Any ideas ?

Thanks

I just wouldn't bother replacing it full stop, but I'm sure another 240 would be fine.

I vaguely remember Linus or someone like that maybe GN testing there and finding not much in it between 240/360

Depending on cpu and usage I found going from 240 to 280 had a positive difference with cooling. But 280 to 360 there was zero difference.

But your temps on a 240 are good, so at this point it's whether you want to spend the money for aesthetic purposes.

Thanks guys.
In regards to upgrading the CPU at this point I don't think thats a great a idea because I can game in 1440p at high settings no issues.. Plus isn't the next generation of Ryzen coming out soon too ??

For the AIO I did think of an idea, get a 360, remove the rear exhaust fan and have the pipes toward the left of the case so they don't get in the way of the side fans on the right

I think the change to a 360 would be purely for aesthetics, not sure a R5 3600 warrants any more than a 240.

But yes your last idea would probably be best so the pipes don't overlap the sight of the fans to the right. Not sure of the length of the pipes on the 360 cooler you have your eyes on, but you may need to think about the rotation of the cooler so the pipes lay nicely to go up to the left. Also can the display on the cooler rotate to match the position you decide on?

3 fans at the top and 3 fans at the bottom would also look more uniform.

From what I've read my current cooler has 400mm pipes and so does the 360 I am after ( Kraken Elite ) so should be fine

You can rotate the pipes from what I've heard, but I don't know whether that would then have a knock-on effect on the cabling ( which I'd like to be at the top ) So I need to do some reading into that.

Bought the cooler.
All looks fine, just unsure as to why there is only one four pin connecter and the others are three ?

( The fans that mount to the RAD connect directly to the AIO cabling as shown above, not the mobo or any hubs )

Thanks

The pin that's only present on one fan, is the sense wire that reports speed back to the motherboard. If all 3 fans were connected it would read 3x the speed. Same on any fan splitters you'll find.

All done, really happy with the result. Temps are about 5c lower than they were with the 240mm

NZXT Cam reports the cpu temps a few degrees higher than Ryzen Master ( I heard this is because Ryzen Master calculates the average, whilst NZXT reports the highest spot of the CPU )

I think it looks excellent, and I'm sure exactly what you was hoping to achieve.

I've never really been a big fan of white cases, but this one has the perfect blend of black and white where neither is too overpowering.

The addition of that extra fan at the top and removal of the random rear fan brings a lot more balance and the subdued lighting looks great.

Thanks mate appreciate it.

PC also runs silently in idle now that I can turn the fans down and set a good curve ( when I Did the 360 AIO I also switched the top fans to PWMs like the rest )
