The Manchester United Club Thread **Sponsored by Comedy Central**

Ya know what adds a layer of absolute cowardice from United, arnold and the other members is that they refuse to make the moral choice so they're relying on others to apply the pressure and essentially make the decision for them now that it's creeped into public domain that he was going to be reintegrated.

Good job United on doing your best to smear a seminal moment both by detracting from the women's world cup and potentially applying a level of pressure and concern to their preparations for the games games and now the final. I would be surprised if the camp has been able to protect them from this story and if they haven't they'll know they're going to be faced with club pressure and media on their return.

Glad to see Rachel Riley step up - Whilst intended as a harmless meme - the above is part of the problem in dismissing the voices against domestic violence. We should be championing such at every point and expect better of our clubs and leaders. '...it only takes one voice, at the right pitch, to start an avalanche.'

I know the audio recording is in the public domain and adds a level of complexity, but why did she not stop supporting the club when we brought back Ronaldo?

It just strikes me as someone jumping on the bandwagon.

For the reasons you've said - We have a lot more we can process to determine our point of view on this case as it unfolds rather publically - and there's an aspect of it's here and now for some people. Even if we go with past ignorance it doesn't dismiss anyone's decision to change their view or begin to speak up

I find we have a problem with scepticism of people... trying to find fault in their view or undermine their credibility. It's healthy to question but when we load it with terms like bandwagon... I'm not a particular fan especially in this case. It implies this is something negative to join...

(BTW - I appreciate this is a topic that's somewhat domineering and raw at the moment. I'm finding it helpful to process this here, listen and discuss. So a thank you for those engaging and helping to broaden my perspective on this :))

Shouldnt he come out and explain himself?

Even the NFL stars who slap their wives around pop up on Oprah and talk about what happened. Why hasnt he done the same?

Presumed innocent until proven guilty is all fine, but the circumstantial evidence of what he did with no public denial or explanation makes it difficult to understand how he continues in the PL.

I did think they’d do some sort of press release, but I’m not really sure what he can say. I don’t think he can come out and apologise for raping and beating the **** out of her, can he? He’s done if he does. The way they seem to be leaving it casts some doubt over the situation.

Somebody at Utd really doesn't want Greenwood coming back. Adam Crafton has more info on Utd's plan to bring him back and the reaction to the his story the other day:

These reports certainly don't reflect well on the club. Although I suspect they are being looked at in a business sense rather than anything else. I don't think anyone would have a problem with certain domestic abuse charities being 'hostile' - of course they will be.

I do think the club want to bring him back, but it will be very difficult. I imagine they are trying to find a way to favourably present this mitigating 'evidence' that's not in the public domain. However it'll be difficult to do that without it sounding like the alleged victim has fabricated/exaggerated some of the story.

I heard this discussed on the football ramble yesterday.

I didn’t know much about it until they spoke about it. What a horrific way of handling this entire situation. The whole thing of involving the England female players but then not actually going to use anything they say in the decision process is insane and has meant those Utd players are now getting a torrent of abuse online.

Hopefully they do the right thing and just void his contract. His sponsors done it instantly. Utd just ran shockingly at the moment sadly.

I thought the United women line was horrific aswell. Just directing a load of abuse their way.

I dont think anyone comes out of this whole thing looking well including the manager.
