Please remember that any mention of competitors, hinting at competitors or offering to provide details of competitors will result in an account suspension. The full rules can be found under the 'Terms and Rules' link in the bottom right corner of your screen. Just don't mention competitors in any way, shape or form and you'll be OK.

Just what is NVIDIA up to?

I know, they have to make up for all that expensive GDDR6X they put on their dGPUs.

Why would they care? 8GB rtx4060ti for £400 and 12gb rtx4070ti for £800 in 2023 when GDDR6 is one fifth the price of 2021. Yet PCMR on social media defend it,buy them and then when issues happen it's the devs fault. Or consoles fault. It's the new you are holding it wrong meme.

AMD seems to be in its own fantasy land too. This obsession with short term margins at the expense of long term customer perception is affecting all of us in the west massively. Everything from energy price hikes, shrinkflation, etc. It also leads to western companies exiting lower margin volume markets, usually for the benefit of countries like China.

Totally agree mate, both need to see the bigger picture here before someone else steps in (if only) and rips that market share away from them (dreaming). Need to stir up some real competition for anything to change in the next few years imo.

Such a pity for us Nvidians 40x0 owners that Starfield is an AMD sponsored title.

Missing out on all the goodies. :(

Fixed that for you!

Funny how Baldurs Gate 3 releases with Nvidia Gimpworks and only supports FSR 1 and not FSR 2 and as such has deliberately reduced quality on AMD. Or how CP 2077 took well over a year to get FSR despite FSR being out for over a year. Yet not a peep from “Nvidians”.

Yet AMD do the same and it’s all how dare you from the press and “Nvidians”. I’ll just turn on FSR and be OK with it and I say that as an RTX 4080 owner.

Why am i starting to get the impression Nvidia is turning into more of a software solutions company than a hardware company.

There's no doubting that raytracing is a more *realistic way to light a scene but when you have to come up with software that lets you better upscale an image, generate fake frames, and now reconstruct rays you have to wonder if it's all worth it.

*if realism is what you're aiming for and not artistic impression.

Will you need FSR with a 4080, I thought the rec spec was a base 2080.

I find it amusing suddenly the internet is suddenly sooooo worried about the quality of graphics in a Bethesda games studio release. They are well known for those graphically amazing releases such as Fallout 3,Fallout:New Vegas,Fallout 4 and Fallout 76! There were better looking games than Skyrim at launch. Nobody I know actually is expecting Starfield to look good,or doesn't expect bugs - they are more worried about how it plays, the world building and story. This is what scuppered Fallout 76(if it had been Fallout 4 online with actual NPCs at launch, and no survival metrics it might have done OK). I am sure an HD pack will come later or modders will be at work from day one with additional "features" people crave. If people want a pretty game at launch with all the latest tech,Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty has you sorted in that regard.

Although FSR3 is becoming a meme fast. It's sort of embarrassing AMD talks about improved machine learning with RDNA3,and its still unused(Dust Bowl rendered in FSR3 quality mode).

It launches with FSR1? So all the GTX1650 owners,GTX1660 owners, etc get dunked on even more! :(

An upgrade to an RTX4060 will sort that out! :p

Just found out I can get the 4070 for £499 and 4080 for £999 through work - still more expensive than I'd pay for them though, sadly the 4090 is still £1700 though so more than buying an FE one.

Not that I had any intention of buying but looks like I've missed the boat on this - aside from the 4090 now all out of stock - I suspect a load will if not already be popping up on ebay :s usually for stuff like this there is a purchase limit for staff to stop that kind of thing but I can't see any mention of one in this case.

Not that I like the look of any of those, but the DLSS 3.5 one seems to have gone a bit too far into reflecting the pink parts, hasn't it?

Yes, but aside from cinematographers and camera people, does anyone actually want realistically dark scenes? From a camera technique point of view, 90% all black is great. From a viewing/playing experience? Not for me!

Modders seem to be quick these days, give it a few months and it'll be added along with VR support lol.
While this is all fun to speculate reality is rather different there still isn't proper dlss/fsr support for skyrim never mind starfield (theres finally a mod implementation but its less than great and if you have ENB well that version is behind a paywall)
