3060TI FE to a 4070, worth it ?

When i moved to the 5800x3d i noticed the games felt so much smoother, the lows were much higher. I expect when i get round to upgrading my 3060ti then of course i will get more FPS but for now the 3060ti is fine at 1440p.

Which games do you play, out of interest ?

Replacing the Ryzen 3600 with a Ryzen 5800X3D would be the better option.. i did this from a 5700X and saw a huge improvement in games and way better lows in FPS.

One example was not being able to max out GTA V.. now i can with the X3D.. even with the advanced graphics settings turned up.
I have a 3700x and haven't noticed the framerate dip below 60fps on any of the games I have played on high settings.

Surely there would be no benefit in upgrading to a 5800X3D if I was playing at a locked 60fps?

Sorry i should have been more clear with my post.. i have 4x 144Hz displays at 120Hz.. (120 for 60 fps streaming purposes with OBS) but i never see it dip below 120fps and is smooth as butter. The X3D got rid of all the low fps drops i got with the 5700X.

Will just say i had the 3800x cpu and upgraded to the 5800x3d and saw quite a big increase in fps just from that when i had my 3060ti, my old cpu was defo holding the 3060ti back a bit, i dont regret getting my 4070 though as like i said i have seen quite a big performance boost in some games.

Before I commit to a AM4 cpu. In theory, Is it not worth going with AM5 instead ? Obv that would mean a new mobo and ram.

Suppose it depends how much you want to spend etc,in a ideal world then yes, it may be better to upgrade to the am5 platform, but on the other hand the 5800x3d is still a great cpu even now and performs great in all games ive played with it.

Battlefield 2042 pushes it the hardest but that game pushes cpus hard, still performs great though, maybe have a little look on youtube at the 5800x3d and the newer am5 cpus, then decide whats best for you and what you can afford/ are willing to spend at this time

A 5800X3D will set you back around £250 on sale but a 7800X3D would cost around £350 and if you include the mobo and ram then you are looking at over £500+ just for a 25% increase in performance over the 5800X3D.

You need to decide if that is worth the extra money.

Appreciate the advice, thanks.
Yes I have decided to stick to AM4 after lots of reading

The 3060ti is still a great little card!

I’d hold off for some deals to appear before jumping to a 4000 series card

I went from a 3600 using basic XMP C16 timings to a 5700x and a stock 3060ti FE for both tests saw my SuperPosition scores for 1080p Extreme went:

Min FPS: 28 -> 42
Avg FPS: 37 -> 53
Max FPS: 46 -> 66

Moving from 3xxx AMD to 5xxx AMD was the ultimate budget move, and going to a 5800X3D would be an even better gaming improvement (I wanted lower TDP though and don't game that much).
