When i moved to the 5800x3d i noticed the games felt so much smoother, the lows were much higher. I expect when i get round to upgrading my 3060ti then of course i will get more FPS but for now the 3060ti is fine at 1440p.
3060Ti is 8GB, 4070 is 12GB.IMO, no.
Same VRAM size, slightly better performance but it’ll cost you more than double what your 3060 Ti is worth.
I have a 3700x and haven't noticed the framerate dip below 60fps on any of the games I have played on high settings.Replacing the Ryzen 3600 with a Ryzen 5800X3D would be the better option.. i did this from a 5700X and saw a huge improvement in games and way better lows in FPS.
One example was not being able to max out GTA V.. now i can with the X3D.. even with the advanced graphics settings turned up.
Which games do you play, out of interest ?
Sorry i should have been more clear with my post.. i have 4x 144Hz displays at 120Hz.. (120 for 60 fps streaming purposes with OBS) but i never see it dip below 120fps and is smooth as butter. The X3D got rid of all the low fps drops i got with the 5700X.I have a 3700x and haven't noticed the framerate dip below 60fps on any of the games I have played on high settings.
Surely there would be no benefit in upgrading to a 5800X3D if I was playing at a locked 60fps?
A 5800X3D will set you back around £250 on sale but a 7800X3D would cost around £350 and if you include the mobo and ram then you are looking at over £500+ just for a 25% increase in performance over the 5800X3D.Before I commit to a AM4 cpu. In theory, Is it not worth going with AM5 instead ? Obv that would mean a new mobo and ram.

You need to decide if that is worth the extra money.
Thnk you have done the sensible thing. I couldn't be bothered upgrading cpu/mobo/ram etc to pay a premium for a relatively small gain in performance.Appreciate the advice, thanks.
Yes I have decided to stick to AM4 after lots of reading
