If we didn't have such weak leaders for the last 20 years we wouldn't be in this situation, Politicians seem to have forgotten the lessons of WW2 and what happens when you turn a blind eye to the wrongs of dictator. This is why history should be made a compulsory subject right up and including GSCE level.

Politicians were well aware of the risks. Like most of the problems we have these days politicians are too heavily influenced by the wishes of business and wealthy individual whose interests are/were best served by kicking the can down the road.

It’s the same with China now. Clearly they present a huge risk to the west, but we are blinded by the need for western companies to outsource production to China and “getting a slice of the Chinese market” to take any action. None of which is in the best long (or in many cases short) term interests of you typical voter.

No amount of GCSE history lessons is going to fix that.

What about the Russian soldier who runs into the Ukrainian trench video doing the rounds!

It was a bit of a rock and hard place situation TBH. We should have kept deeper reserves of munitions and not allowed our production capacity be eroded so badly. Maintaining a small but top notch fleet of heavy bombers wouldn’t have been a bad idea IMO.

I'll have to watch it when I get home but I caught some of the video just before the pop-up appeared asking me to login and confirm I was over 18 and it looked quite surreal to say the least. It looked like Russian combat reporter had got lost and jumped into a Ukrainian trench in a blind panic.

I dont agree with that.... Iraq, Syria, Libya.... I wouldn't say we have been weak in the past, I still feel strongly that we should have left them three countries alone, but who knows what would have happened 10-15 years after if we did.

Completley agree, this is one of the reasons why globalization is flawed, it works great until someone rocks the boat and holds the cards.

That was certainly a brown trousers moment.

Where's the best source of all this footage?
I assume very nsfw.
Could a kind soul trust a link to me or if it's ok just say here "out loud"

I saw it on Reddit combat footage but you will need to login to see it (yes nsfw you see people getting shot from the bit I saw no blood though)

I don't know, as a lay person looking at the wing it to me supports what Denys was saying in his video from Wednesday that the plane was shot down by an anti missile (S300/S400) which struck the wing causing it to break off from the main fuselage.
As a complete idiot... I see no char marks from a bomb, but on the far side of the wing I see what looks like multiple puncture marks in the white metal. So far, I'm going with anti-air, unless something else comes out. (surprised no mayday calls).

That's almost hilarious, as the majority on this forum voted for a government led by someone who's position was...
“Trident should go. I do not believe that it is a form of defence. I do not believe it is something that anyone in their proper mind would ever want to use.”
Politicians represent the voting public. It's the people... 'us'... that became collectively complacent.

The majority statistically voted for Johnson at the last election, I didn’t I know a bunch of pricks when I see them, plus I’m a diehard lib dem. I don’t remember either party saying that about Trident? Or is this a rouse to say that it’s now a “left wing” forum full of Corbyn fans? Because the Kippers keep losing the argument? I mean where else is there to go….

On your second point, on the face of it yes that’s correct, assuming the politicians are acting in good faith, which I don’t believe for one minute with the Kippers. They are just vote thieves.

The hilarious part is it’s the conservatives that have lead us to this position all the way back to Thatcher.
