Hello,

I travel quite a lot on solo mini (4-5 days) trips and always take my little suitcase with me in cabin. I like doing this as it saves the hassle of hold luggage and in the past i have not minded paying the extra to select an up front seat as it allowed this cabin bag as part of the deal. Annoyingly EasyJet have now stopped this so not only do you pay for an upfront seat but the cabin bag is now a separate charge adding £45 for a round trip.

I've noticed if I become an EasyJet Plus customer one of the perks is now free cabin bag. Cost of this is around £240 a year.
I guess it comes down to how often I would book with EasyJet to see if it is worth it , some other perks seem to be 'fast security' - has anyone used this and what do you think? or is anyone a EasyJet Plus user and had any issues?

I used to have Easyjet plus. I’m a contractor and used to fly Luton to Edinburgh every week, so it made life a lot easier getting through security quickly, boarding the plane first via speedy boarding, ensuring you get space in the overhead lockers and sitting at the front so you can get off quickly. Was worth the money for the 40 odd return flights a year. No issues with it at all but as you say you have to use it quite a bit to make it worth the money although less so now as they charge for a cabin bag to goes into the overhead locker

Anything that's on your back as opposed to on wheels rarely if ever gets size checked in my experience.

Also can you pack smarter? Vacuum packing items even. I haven't gone that far but haven't needed to due to the above.

Thank you Bear

Good point Russianting and I did think if I were to get a slightly larger backpack (the 'underseat' one I use now is just under the limit) I could probably get away with not taking a case too, and like you say they rarely seem to check backpack size anyway. I do quite like the backpack + small suitcase combo though.

Tricky one but I think with the price increase of carry-on I would only need to use the Plus membership 4 times a year and it would pay for itself as i'll also save on the upfront seat selection too.
Yeah , that's convinced me - will sign up now :) Cheers guys

That seems quite expensive, I'd have to double check how much I've paid on Ryanair and jet2 flights for a cabin bag as I'm sure they've not been that expensive before.

Are you not allowed to put anything in the overhead lockers if you don't pay for it? I.e. coats/jackets or small bags?

Thanks,

Yes it does seem expensive and it is surprising when you first see the 'base cost' of ticket and then at the end with all the bits and pieces added on it really mounts up.
So that 'under seat bag' they let everyone on with can be put in the locker yes but it adds the faff squeezing everything in that 1 one small bag.

I've joined the Plus now so when I see the base cost of fare that is all I now pay as upfront seating + cabin bag now included in that package. I just have to make sure I make enough trips throughout the year to make the most of it (so really , I've fallen right into the EasyJet scheme of opting for this :D )

The best thing I’ve learned with easyJet when flying solo is try to get all your stuff packed into a small under seat back pack. Just take the cheap seat only option. Then don’t care if you get on the plane first or last safe in the knowledge that there is a seat for you and a place to put your bag on the floor. Really takes the stress out of it.
