Car suggestions £4-5k

Hi all,

I need a car for my wife, budget up to 4/5k ish, but more han happy to spend less, £3k would be nice if possible.

Requirements are:
  • Reliable.
  • 5 door, needs to have a child seat in the back.
  • Petrol only, no diesels.
  • Ideally NA rather than turbo, I like simple
  • Can fit a medium size dog in the boot for short journeys.
  • Use case is approx. 25miles a day for work, with total annual milage around 5k a year.
  • Ideally not huge, shes had an Avensis Estate and I know she would prefer something smaller.

The first car that springs to my mind is a Focus, 1.6, 1.8 or 2.0 (ideally 2012+, but that would be upper budget), but the prices are all over the place, the £1500 to £2k bangers of a few years back are now up for £3k+ with 100k+, its all mad.

Can anyone suggest anything else?

Double honda suggestion! Cheers, Jazz might be a goer, will show the wife later and see what she thinks. Likewise the FRV. Any reason to discount the CRV?
 
Thought I'd update you all.

Went for a little 2012 Honda Jazz 1.2 vtec in the end after lots and lots of searching. Wife finds it easy to drive and rather likes it, I'm surprised at the amount of space available inside a car with such a small footprint.

It's not the most exciting option, but after the recent stress we've experienced with our Avensis, reliability comes as a priority!

Just need to work out the best way of getting my wife Bluetooth for her phone now. Seems parrot are obsolete these days? It's all sun visor kits or full stereo swaps.

I have a PD charger/bluetooth/fm transmitter thing that plugs in the cigarette lighter hole.

It has usbC and usbA works great
 
Thanks for the suggestions, I did look into the FM ones, but decided on one that operates using the auxillary port instead, BTC480 to be exact.

Bit more £, but hopefully will work well.

I've got one for my Mini - works faultlessly and at least has physical buttons that you can stick somewhere useful for answering calls or skipping tracks
