Ukraine Has Lost Its First Challenger 2 Tank
Yes, Ukraine is losing tanks, including some of its best tanks. No, it’s not running out of tanks.www.forbes.com
I wonder if we will ever find out how much firepower the Russians needed to take it down.

I did the maths on it once - I can't remember the exact numbers but our arsenal fully used would turn about 3% of Russia's landmass into glass - or the UK about twice over, their entire (on paper) arsenal would do the same to the entire landmass of the UK several times over. (In reality their viable nuclear arsenal is probably significantly smaller than on paper but still enough to glass the UK a few times).
I can't imagine a scenario where Russia would use their entire arsenal against the UK though.
Modern nuclear weapons are a long way from the world ending scenarios of the peak of the cold war with lots of big multi-megaton atom bombs but in some ways that is worse as many many more people would survive in unimaginably grim conditions.

150mm shel packs a mighty punch. Not much will withstand direct hits from artillery.
Well yes, but was it that it ran over a mine, got disabled from a direct hit of something, multiple drone strikes etc.
Hope we send them another 12 challengers to replace the one that got destroyed.
In other news, the next stop on this Thameslink bus replacement service is... Kyiv?

TBH I wouldnt supply C2s. Its adding logistic challenges.
And we dont have that many.
Better to just simply buy some Abrams from the US who have thousands and donate them.
I think the C2s were really just to enable the move to send modern MBTs. Once we had committed it reduced the hurdle for Abrams and Leo2s

I bet that bus is ecstatic to be in a more hospitable location these days and can see the beaming smile on its face.
Apparently the challenger had an engine fire and it wasn't even near the front lines.
As much as I would like that to be true that does sound less likely than an artillery strike.
This made me laugh far more than I probably should haveNo one has built the perfect tank yet. Of course I exclude the T14 since thats so awesome its stealth means no one has even seen one at the front yet![]()
