A common source of tension in both US and UK cities results from Asian shopkeepers operating in black neighbourhoods. This seems to have flared up in Peckham where, from what I can gather a black woman was refused a refund for some hair products, became angry and seems to have decided to help herself to some other products on the shelves. The shopkeeper has then confronted her/prevented her from leaving and got a slap in the face for his trouble then he's put his hands on her.

Unfortunately for him, while grabbing onto her, he ended up momentarily putting his hands around her neck and a short clip missing the other context has circulated claiming that she was "strangled" for simply asking for a refund. Which of course has stirred up a mob...

The clip that went viral + also additional context/footage from an Asian guy in the comments:

And a very civilised response from a registered charity here (remember the Buckingham Palace race row? This is the charity run by that woman!)

And now there's an angry protest outside the shop and it's clearly had to temporarily close:

I wonder if we keep getting boy who cried wolf type "outrages" like these then people will become more immune to the obvious grifting/race-baiting here?

Fortunately, it's not caused a riot but that guy perhaps needs to lay low for a few days now. Also, it seems very dubious that a charity should be acting in such an irresponsible way, they're also retweeting something about black-owned businesses, since when should a charity be promoting racial discrimination in where you shop?

In the US sure though that tends to be more films playing on stereotypes, over here not so much, then again this is a Dowie thread.
Yeah that is the first time I've ever read such a sentence.

Pretty sure the tensions with Asians in America is targeting Chinese not Indians, too.

Of course the actual facts and context don't matter, what matters is how many people each side can get angry on social media by hook, crook, or contextless video clip. And of course these days on twitter shoplifting is good actually so a bunch of people that showed up would be on her side whatever she did and whether she hit him first or not.

RARSECLAART
First Google result was this lady, not sure what she's got to do with this  https://www.famousbirthdays.com/people/marnie-rarsclart.html
...
Third result down, what an amazing insult

E: Also not sure sistah space are making the point they think they are about racism within the BAME grouping given a couple of the signs posted on the shop shutter...

The usual mob mentality that thinks it can take the law into it's own hands.

The shopkeeper had every right to use proportional force to stop the woman from becoming a shop lifter once she had crossed the threshold of his shop entrance.

Maybe she wasn't "entitled" to return the hair product because it had been opened and considered a hygiene sensitive type product. Either way it didn't "entitle" her to help herself to other goods.
