You would probably remove the entire missing section and replace with a new one - but this sounds like a total loss.It wont be repaired, it will be scrapped

I assume the hull is not a single solid piece of metal but instead made up of joined plates, so I guess to replace the damaged sections would required partially taking the submarine apart and rebuilding it with new sections.. it sounds like a lot of expensive work
And stops other vessels being repaired while they are in there too.Probably a fair cost to just to dismantle and move them from the dock.
About a Submarine?
I'm thinking about the bigger picture really, the long term strategic ramifications of this war which will persist for decades afterwards and how it'll shape our future, the possibility of a divided world, how future conflicts could arise from this, disappointed in our global leaders inability to find peaceful solutions. You're cheering about a Submarine where as I'm thinking how many soldiers will be dead this week from brutal fighting, murdered in horrific ways that you won't see or hear about. I wish I had your brain then I could just wave my flag and cheer about a Submarine.
The others may not be storm shadows but other missiles which are deliberately easier to lock on to, as decoys. That would allow the storm shadows to have a higher chance of getting through.Assuming 10 Storm-shadows got used (of which 8 got through), thats about 30 million cost to make them.
Set that against around a Billion combined cost of the sub and landing ship I'd call that a decent return of taxpayer investment!
I know the Black Sea fleet had a submarine as part of it's force
If this is accurate they have a few more subs in the Black Sea.
Tom Clancy Red Storm Rising, he says that if the makers claims for SAM missiles were true, no aircraft would fly after day 2 in a european war....People have thought for decades that Russian air defence was some of the best in the world. I am guessing this has put some doubts into that.
If they have also got the sub, what a hell of a message to send when Putin is meeting with Kim
Xray welding of titanium in a war zone.... not going to happenYou would probably remove the entire missing section and replace with a new one - but this sounds like a total loss.
If Putin gains anything from this invasion, the "long term" ramifications will be far worse than the dead you claim to mourn today.About a Submarine?

Kojima saw the way the wind was blowing (kinda)I was at DSEI today (defence show in Docklands) and the real theme seemed to be drones. Air drones, sea drones, land drones. They were everywhere in all shapes and sizes. It does feel like it is the verge of a shift in how warfare is conducted.

This is who Roar thinks you can negotiate with in a civilised manner.
