Mortgage Rate Rises

Does anyone know during remortgaging, do banks ever do things like wave the £999 setup fee to keep your business so you stay with them?

In my experience it's a very black and white thing, they might have an offer or a product that does that but it'll be for anyone who meets the criteria.

I've never known of any debate/negotiation or deals.

Thought as much, but best to ask here :)

Sometimes you can get cashback.
Opened a lloyds bank account to get 750 off.
But the fee was still there.

That's good going considering the work youve done.

I'm at 37,758.78 but still need floor, all bedrooms, new bathroom, new roof, extension.
Love how you've got pence and I've got "somewhere over £100k"

I honestly made attempts to keep records but especially the garden got very blurry over time.

Also the kitchen, there was the cost of the kitchen then there was the cost of fitting, they were both fixed, then there was the cost of the various upgrades and extras we decided to make which I excluded from the total because it was discretionary.

I'm blessed that we could afford to not worry about it and haven't come away with any debt and exactly what we wanted but both the kitchen and garden definitely had a bit of runaway cost.

Hah yeah I'm pretty OCD when it comes to managing finances. I track every single item I buy individually no matter what, so keeping a running house spend total wasn't an issue.

Would love to see pictures of your £100k kitchen and garden.

Absolutely stunning! No doubt you've added more to the house than the works cost. How much did each (bathroom, kitchen & garden upgrade cost?

Roughly, very roughly bathroom 15, garden over 40, kitchen about 30 and then various other bits like blinds/drive etc etc makes up the rest
