UK car hire

Hi all

Myself and the family (2 adults, 2 kids) will be flying into the UK in early October and am hoping to pick up a few recommendations on car hire for the duration of our trip.

Nothing too special, but needed for 3 weeks in October. Flying into Heathrow and will mainly be staying between the South East and South West for the duration of the trip before jetting back to Australia from Heathrow again.

Normally would just book and hire online from one of the airport gang (hertz etc) but want to see what else is put there.

You could have a look at Turo? https://turo.com/gb/en hire someone else's car, although for three weeks you might have a bit of trouble.

I used Europcar try renting from non airport locations they can be cheaper

There are comparison websites…you best bet is go through those. Enterprise,europcar,hertz etc are the usual go to for that sort of rental period

Don't take out the excess cover insurance from the hire company. Get your own 3rd party insurance policy to cover that and save a few quid.

Hertz has Polestar 2s if you can make an EV work - I have one booked for 2 weeks over Christmas for about 26GBP a day which is cheap by recent standards.

All I can see on the website is the Polestar 2 for £48 / day

You can book car hire via Uber too now which is very easy
