The Manchester United Club Thread

It appears Sancho has deactivated his Instagram account. I wonder if that whats hes been told to do by his friends/family/agent/lawyer. Or is it a case of hes been getting a **** ton of abuse on it and the notifications are interrupting his FIFA game?
None of it would have happened if ETH has de-activated his mouth. All everyone is doing is completely de-valuing him from any kind of sell on. It's going o be another case of loaning the boy out to whoever will have him with united paying a large percentage of his wages. More brilliant business. He shouldn't have to apologies and if he does it's an empty one. He should be free too defend himself in public if he's called out in public.

None of it would have happened if he wasn't a manchild who would clearly rather sit and play FIFA all night than put the effort in at training. He's devalued himself. He got called out and threw his toys out of his pram saying he was a scapegoat. It clearly wasn't an isolated issue and it sounds like it was about time he was called out on it.

FIFA all night? When exactly should he be playing it? Just something for people to grasp onto. Lots of our best players do that. This has become another thing for the haters to latch onto because they think he should move on to suit them. He won’t move so you’re trying the bullying tactics you do with all your players that don’t make the level.

Lots of players also have poor moves and still get sold or moved without costing an absolute fortune. United post fergie end up giving them away with a bag of money. ETH has improved no one and now lost you any hope of getting anything for Sancho.

Sancho may not be good enough, maybe it would have been better to shut up and move him on.

He turns up late after playing FIFA until 3am if the media are to be believed.

Have you ever worked in a team or managed people?

It is just over now. Shove him in the reserves then either sell him or loan him in January. Maybe even send him to Saudi.

There is really no coming back for him. He dug his own grave by his twitter post.

A lot of people trying to stitch up ETH but forget Fergie managed in a time without Instagram, Twitter etc so got away with a lot and managed to hush up most of it.

Beckhams cut to the face would have been absolutely crazy in the media if it happened today. The Woke brigade would be wanting Fergie to face criminal charges or something along those lines.

Roy Keanes comment, Jaap Stams book, Rooney wanting to leave etc. Would all have been bigger stories than this Sancho nonsense.

Clubs really need to look into how they do their contracts in the future as it all seems to be in the players favour.

Sancho is a) not performing b) conduct issues c) Bringing the company he is working for into disrepute.

They should have probable cause to cease his contract and tear it up and tell him to jog on. Yes they lose 75 million but when your revenue is 600 odd million a year it is akin to the average earner losing 4K in a year off their 30k salary. It will hurt a bit but you will survive.

...how is he bringing the company into disrepute?
Although your company shouldn't be held accountable for the misconduct of your employees when they are not at work, there are instances where your employee's conduct outside of work may affect your company's reputation. This is commonly referred to as bringing the company into disrepute.

And...how has he done that exactly?

You clearly are young or not been following United for long enough. Beckhams fall out was far bigger news than this, when Beckham outed Fergie by refusing to cover up the cut. Keanes comments where bigger news and Rooney stating the club lost desire was bigger too. Other than United fans insisting he should leave this is small news compared to any of those incidents. Stam was dealt with quickly, don't remember much fuss about that one.

Sancho wasn't even news until ETH made it so. Everyone had just accepted he was ****. Now he's **** and worthless and you will have to keep paying him when he moves.

How can it be bigger when there wasn't twitter, Instagram or all the social media stuff. Talksport and Sky Sports are milking it too. They were a lot smaller back then too.

It was a lot easier to hush things up back then.

Even an Everton fan like yourself would miss a load of United news without social media these days.

I'm genuinely confused on your view here.. After ETH had been patient and understanding by spent time through last winter giving Sancho training regimes and specialist help. He's then started to behave the same way and turned up to training late persistently and not put the effort in. So ETH has simply said ONCE, he's not trained well so he's not in the squad.

You've got a very weird vendetta here Danny that makes little to no sense since ETH has barely said anything and what he did say was within reason

I'm not sure why you've taken exception to that line from Danny - it might be a bit blunt but I'm not sure anything is untrue. When Sancho was left out of the squad did anybody even notice? It might have raised a few eyebrows amongst Utd fans but I'm not sure many non Utd fans noticed, let alone cared.

This only became a news story post match when ETH made his comments and Sancho reacted to them. I said this at the time and I think it even more so now, ETH's comments were needless. There's lots of negative rumours going around about Sancho and who knows what is true but even if we accept that they're all true, what on earth do Utd gain from ETH outing a player in public? Whether it's football, financial or just the general atmosphere around the club, this has been bad for Utd on every level. Short of Sancho getting a big offer from the middle east and fancying a move there, it's difficult to see a scenario where Sancho moves on without Utd paying him off or subsidising his wages. In January he'll still be sitting on a contract worth circa £45m to him and no club that might want him will be willing to match that.

Because ETH had decided private and patient support had run its course he'd decided he'd not be in any match day squad til things changed.

So after the Arsenal draw he was asked why Sancho wasn't in the squad and responded...

So say he said nothing... the following week when he's not in the squad again and they ask is he injured...

ETH - no.
Journalist - why then?
ETH - No comment

Next week....

ETH - no.
Journalist - why then?
ETH - No comment

... where's this going Baz? Or Danny... who has repeatedly posted about ETH shouting his mouth off etc (the irony of the pot calling the toaster...) no he answered one question, rather sensibly and rationally. Didn't call him anything, or slander him. He assessed his performance politely as the manager of the team is allowed to do

He's tried private reconciliation for 12 months, now the impact of Sancho's actions are being polity addressed and the press will notice and will ask questions... as they did, at arsenal.

There is a level of funny of this to me... however I also feel like I'm taking crazy pills... This is isn't an unusual circumstance.... you and others are pouncing just like the press... c'mon there's better things to chew on here and this absolutely nothing but normal.

Just for clarity here, as people are making out like Sancho was dragged through the mud, this is what Ten Hag said

"On his performance on training we didn't select him," Ten Hag said when asked about Sancho's absence from the squad. "You have to reach the level every day at Manchester United. You can make choices in the front line, so in this game he wasn't selected."

It's hardly a scathing attack on his character, is it? If Sancho hadn't put out his statement, I doubt anyone would have given it more than a second thought.

He could have taken it in, turned up at training on time, put the effort in and he'd have been back in the squad the following week. Sorted

Ok and how does that change what Danny (or I have) said? Whether you think Sancho deserved to be outed or not, this saga was created by ETH's comments and has resulted in Utd having a £350k per week player sat on his arse doing nothing and you will have to pay to leave. That's what Danny said and that's what has happened. If you think Danny's got an agenda against Utd and has made numerous comments about ETH then argue about that rather than pick out a single line where what he said was 100% accurate

Now on the wider issue about Sancho, there are times in life where you need to be a bit pragmatic and bite your tongue for your own good, regardless of what you think is best and this, imo, is a perfect example of that. ETH made his point by dropping Sancho, what more does he gain from outing him in the press? Of all the clubs in the world that could do without the added drama right now, it's Utd. And of all the clubs that could do with having Sancho available to them right now, it's Utd again. Bite your tongue, speak to the player in private after the Spurs game and find a way to get something out of him over the next few months because it's in your an the clubs best interests. If approaching January things haven't improved then you can then look to move him on without him being totally worthless.

You can believe ETH was right in doing what he did but all the backslapping in the world isn't going to change the fact that Utd have ended up worse off as a result of the saga created by those comments.
