Hi,

My house is a Mock Tudor 1930s built and the door is original which wrap and changed shape until I can see light through the gap on the opening side even with a fat layer of door seal foam. My question is

1. Is it even possible to fix a old timber door which is twisted and wrap?
2. Looking at improving the house insulation and ASHP, a composite door is what I have set my sight on what is the usual cost for removing existing and installing new and is there anything to watch out for?

I done some basic reading but would appreciate any advice or experience you had

I never knew front door can be so expensive :)
 
Search the sub for front door and you'll see the discussion played out several times. In summary, solidor or endurance. These are solid door composite.

However uPVC doors are actually more insulating than solid core doors.

looking at that thread , it doesn't mention anything about included lock set quality - had a 3 point solid door installed about a year ago £1.5K w/frame ...
doors fine but the anonymous(chinesium) lock mechanism has become temperamental after only a year the handle lift, to engage points, needs extra effort,
with some slop in the lock barrel moving in and out by a few mm.
the original 10yr old door was mainly swapped because the point gearbox was knack'd

Never really looked at the locks, thanks for the tip
 
just looked ours was an 'endurance' door with a wink haus lock set , fancy non-copyable key id'd it.

I'll try their maintenance regime
Open the door and place an old sheet underneath it. Lubricate all of the moving parts with silicone spray, apart from the locking cylinder.
To maintain the smooth operation of your locking cylinder, lubricate your cylinder using graphite powder. Dust your key with graphite powder and move it back and forth in the cylinder 10-15 times to fully lubicate
