I decided on an Asus RTX 4060 Dual OC card for my new (non-gaming) build but found that it's more than two slots wide so I can't fit my 10GBe NIC in the second PCIe16 slot. It only draws 115W so why is it so fat? The GTX 1660 Ti in my old build is the same 115W but much slimmer. Are Asus just using the same cooler across multiple 4060 versions? Anybody know of a slimmer RTX 4060?

I want to be able to run AI noise reduction in OM Workspace. I also Fold occasionally. I know Nvidia cards work for this but have no idea about the Intel range. Looking at the performance figures for the A380, I'd be much better off transferring my 1660 Ti.

Can't you just find one with the right dimensions. There are loads.

The Palit StormX looks small.

The 4060 Dual seems to be one of the biggest, the Ventus 2X, Gigabyte Windforce, Zotac Twin Edge and PNY Verto (I got bored checking at that point) are all less tall.

I was wondering if it was just for video playback as the Intel A380 is the cheapest card which does AV1 decode/encode.

But if it is for specific software then Intel won't do.

Thanks. Will have to decide whether to take the hit replacing the Asus or live with 2.5GBps. I have to admit the depth of the card was not something I considered when choosing one.
Can you use a riser cable for your ethernet card?
There's nowhere else to put it in this compact Cooler Master Elite 300 case.

They tend to slap an over the top cooler on to make the cards seem more premium than they really are in an effort to justify the higher price tag this gen for what is really a lower spec of product than even a 3050 was last time around.

the official excuse is :

  • A 2.5-slot design maximizes compatibility and cooling efficiency for superior performance in small chassis
