Yet another chinese GPU appears

I have to ask, what is the purpose of building such a weak machine? I know nvidia. amd, and intel gpu's are available there - and plenty of resellers have tons of 1060'ish dies stuck in random pcb's to get rid of? Who and what are these outdated chinese gpus for?

And is china really this far behind? I saw a year back they released their own desktop cpu and it was similarly insanely outdated? I don't know enough about this stuff. Is it about access to fabs? Is this what american GPU's would be like if they tried to build them on US soil? Are these built entirely on chinese soil?

They have fabs capable of making GPU sized chips with more or less the same density of Pascal times or 7nm for smaller chips albeit with questionable yelds, add a less than mature software stack and you get those odd products.
Don't take them as something supposed to be an international success, they are closer to a demo for silicon autarky.

To enable an indigenous supply and design chain eventually which is independent of other countries. This means they won't be affected by export restrictions. The current designs are more proof of concept.

I suspect AMD and NV will, if not publicly, will privately be keeping a close eye.

right now they may be a bit naff but that is kind of what often happens.... a 1st few products get scoffed, but then all of a sudden 5 or 10 years down the line after steadily improved suddenly everyone realises the products are on a par with everything else but significantly cheaper.

i dont think anyone is laughing at BYD or MG any more.

or AMD after the whole bulldozer fiasco. Everyone had pretty much written AMD off at that point. All it takes is one good product to work of off.

If there is one thing all these Chinese GPUs have shown, is that Intel Arc is really, really good. It's incredibly difficult to break into the desktop gaming GPU market and Intel so far have performed phenomenally compared to all these Chinese companies
