Is petrol / diesel going to better than money in the bank?

Given the contretemps in the middle east and the probability fuel prices will rise yet further are motorists going to stock up on petrol and / or diesel? I just bought 410 litres of red diesel for the generator, and the truck has 110 + gallons of white diesel in the tanks. Not sure if I should fill all the cars, dead and alive, given the prospect petrol is a better bet than cash in the bank? Anyone going to "invest" in fuel at this moment?

If you're going to sell fuel then you better get your RDCO in order, then account for every litre you buy and sell.
If your monthly RDCO is late you will get fined:eek:

Crude has been trading higher the last month than it is currently. We still have a way yet before it starts having any large impact on fuel pricing.

I am going to use it, not sell it! But if I am confident buying as much as vehicles here will hold will be cheaper than in say a month's time, it may be prudent to "invest" in fuel ratyher than have cash languishing in the bank with poor interest rates. I'm in the motor trade, there's about 12 vehicles here of my own. So given the tank capacity of them I can reasonably and legally have a fair bit of fuel "stored". Every little helps as some supermarket extols, you don't go broke making a "profit".

I'm the sort of chap that crushes tin cans and never puts anything in the bins that I can sell rather than give the council for them to sell for a profit, whilst I also have to give the shysters council tax for the pleasure, someone commonly called a tight old git. Christ, for saving a hundred quid i am not really sure what I wouldn't do :)

If you feel fuel prices will rise buying as much as you can now, funds permitting, is surely a no brainer? You're just emulating group buy petrol stations with fuel on tankers off shore, but on a micro scale...

How much fuel do you use? If I brimmed all my tanks I'd need to fill up again in the next week or two.

Pointless.

Almost, this country bumpkin calls it "prudent" buying, never look a gift horse in the mouth :) There's a reason wars offer opportunties to save / make money as an impotent onlooker, as well as haemorrhage it. Be positive! <shrug>.

Go back say three years, perhaps four, petrol / diesel easily lasts in a usable state that long in a car / van /truck. Compare to interest on money in the bank... OK not everyone uses a lot of fuel nor has the facilities to legally store a reasonable amount, but as I said before, I am the guy that constantly looks for coppers in the cracks in the cobbles... :)

Rishi's got some new wells on the go - perhaps UK/USA intelligence is better than we knew

This is a motorist's forum, as hard done by as we are, let us not politicise it. Saving money, eking out an affordable mobile existence with as little damage to ourselves as possible can surely be discussed without mentioning our erstwhile PM?

I guess it depends if you place any value on your time? If so does the math still check out? What percentage can you afford to spill or otherwise waste before you lose the edge?

I don't spill a drop! Why would I if I'm careful? Anyway, saving a few bob seems anathema here, so i'll just go with my instincts and see what happens :)
