TUF GAMING Z790-PLUS WIFI BIOS UPDATE

Hi,

thinking of getting one of these boards with the new 14900KF. Problem is that if I purchase one now it wont have the 14th gen bios update. Not sure if I'm being stupid here but how will I update the bios to work with this chip if I haven't got a compatible chip to boot with? I see that you can use BIOS Flashback but this board does not have it.

Will it boot up with the 14900 chip in it so I can update or am I snookered until I can purchase the board with the bios pre-installed?

Unlikely, these boards are really locked down nowadays and just refuse to boot.

I'd get a board with flashback unless it specifically says it supports 14th gen.

It's shocking that expensive boards like this (let's face it, they are all expensive these days) doesn't have Bios Flashback. Most AMD boards have it so why not Intel boards? Anyway, you want a board with USB Bios Flashback then you can update the bios without installing the cpu.

Yeah I know, it's frustrating that they all don't have them. I will have to buy the Strix version instead and guess what, it's more money.

Unless you're wedded to Asus, You don't need to buy the Strix. Asus just don't have it on the TUF for some reason, but e.g. MSI include it on the gaming plus and tomahawk and Gigabyte on the UD.
