Hello All,
First post here, have been building computers since the days of beige boxes and recently bought a M/B, CPU and memory to upgrade my main computer.
Parts were : Gigabyte M550B DS3H, AMD Ryzen 5 4500, Lexar Hades 2 x 8gb DDR4 and a new case.
The issue I had originally was that the M/B would not POST.
CPU and PSU fans whirr but no Bios or POST.
Aha, I thought.....BIOS needs updating to support the CPU (or something worse haha).
As I understand it in order for QFlash Plus to run both the CPU and memory should not be installed.
Memory removed in seconds but I can't get the heatsink and fan off the CPU.
It is the stock AMD one and the heatsink is screwed to the motherboard, there is a plate on the rear it screws into.
The old days of popping the camlocks seem to have gone.
I just can't see how to get it off so two questions:
1) Any idea how to get the heatsink off so I can remove the CPU and
2) I read somewhere that QFlash Plus will work with a CPU installed. Can anyone confirm this ?
If it does work then the CPU does not need to be removed and will be there forever.
As you can imagine I am a bit wary of bricking the M/B.
I also can't get the wretched USB 3 Connector out of the M/B socket. Tips there would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance......
