Hi everyone, as a birthday present I'm going to buy my first gaming pc with a budget of £2700 including monitor, keyboard, mouse and I don't know where to start. I've heard about overclockers but I don’t know much about gaming pc. I will use not only for games but for work too. Can you help me?

What kind of work do you use the PC for?

Does it need to be pre-built, or can you build it yourself?

What size/res monitor would you prefer? E.g. does it have to be 4K?

Do you have any other requirements?

For example: Size? Colour scheme? Do you want RGB? How much storage do you need?

I don’t know much about pc so I don’t know how to Build one, I think prebuild will do it. 27” monitor and 64gb. I don’t know what is RGB, sorry. Any colour will be fine. Regarding the requirements I’m not familiar with it but it’s need to be powerful. I will use it for school and work project and specially for gaming too.
If you suggest me something that will be great.

What are the projects about? E.g. do they involve anything demanding for the computer?

RGB: flashing lights.

Something like this?

My basket at OcUK:

Total: £2,640.98 (includes delivery: £0.00)

Warning: I don't know much about monitors or keyboards/mice, would recommend this channel:

I've got the Asus k1 kit, it's ok but not really spell binding.

The mouse appears to sometimes not recognise clicks it might just be me, but the 10 year old Lenovo one at work never has an issue.

The keyboard RGB isn't great it's ok but doesn't have a huge colour pallet, but the RGB has to be on otherwise you can't see the letters. The keys are a bit soft, no better than a cheap £15 keyboard imo.

The volume knob is a nice touch though.

To me £80 is a lot for keyboard and mouse and I was expecting better, at the time I was a bit trigger happy and by the time I bought the kit my head hurt from the constant researching of components and trying to find meaningful reviews of items, a lot of the reviews had Amazon specials in them then raved about but by the time it went to print they weren't available anymore, which then also questioned the quality and should it fail the after sales support.

So I just went with something that seemed reasonable and was considered decent brand.

In the past I've had quite good experience with trust peripherals for the price of them I've been pretty happy I would have gone with them again for my use case (occasional gamer, home office computer) but felt stumping up the extra cash for the Asus k1 would be worthwhile and feel like I've made a step up, I don't feel I did. It's ok, but not sure it's worth the £80

It’s not too demanding.
So would you prefer AMD over Intel?
And what about the Intel core i9. What do you think? Which one would you recommended?
I have to order it this week
Thanks

One thing to be wary of with that build, under power supply it states:-

Power Supply700W 80+ Bronze Rated PSU

That probably means a crappy Kolink which is inexcusable on a pc costing almost £2300!! I would want at least a gold rated psu from a quality brand.

As far as monitors go I bought the MSI Optrix MAG274QRF-QD 27" 2560x1440 165hz IPS gaming monitor last week from the pre Black Friday deals and it is a fantastic monitor. It's my first IPS monitor and the colours are so rich and vivid. For £300 I don't think you can buy a better monitor.

I’ve done some research and you made a very good point here regarding the monitor. I will change it then.
Thank you

When your talking about the build, what do you mean about the gold rated psu from a quality brand. And what would like to change about the build itself as somoene who know about pc.
I don’t have any idea as is my very first gaming pc.
Btw, thank you.

Prebuilt PCs often fit cheap PSUs. On OCUK, sometimes you can select a different PSU in the configurator, but I think with this PC, no alternative PSU is available. I'm pretty sure they would change it if you asked.
