Long overdue upgrade

As you can see from my Signature I have abit of an antique of a PC, which has surprisingly done me well over the years. However with new games coming out/or that been out for a while that interest me (Cyberpunk, Midgnight Suns, Ixiom, V Risiing) and the minimum specs for these games being above what I currently have it seems like now is the time for an upgrade.

Although i have spent sometime of the last few months trying to get upto speed on Hardware and i know roughly where my budget puts me, I am not necessarily aware of what isgood value for money, what gives best performance, what works with what, etc

Some background:
  • I will be sticking with my 1080p monitors for now but will look at possibly upgrading to 1440p in the near future.
  • Having played around on PC Parts Picker budget is around £1,300.
  • Would like to build a system that is reasonably future proof
  • Not particularly brand loyal - but like to pick solid, reliable, value for money parts.
  • Given the budget its likely going to be Intel 12th Gen or AMD AM4 with DDR4 memory but would consider 13th Gen/AM5/DDR5 if budget allows.
  • The only part I am seriously considering (although pleased to hear argument against on) is an AMD 7800 XT - Having seem the GPU's available this seems to be a decent card with some future proofing, should crunch through 1440p, improved power usage (over the previous gen)
  • Current PC tended to throw out a lot of heat in the last 3-4 years when under load, not sure if this was due to me not installing the fans correctly, not keeping them dust free enough, but popping the side panel off to improve airflow seemed to stop the issue. This means although the NZXT Tempest has served me well (apart from the power button fallout out its housing inside the PC) I am looking at a replacement Mid Tower (Although I like the price and the visual designs of the Kolink cases given the above I have concerns about air cooling them when the case essentially prohibits front intake due to pretty lights - this is probably one for Case Central).
In Summary I am looking for suggestions for a new Mid Tower Case, Power Supply, CPU, Motherboard, RAM, SSD and Graphics card for around £1,300 based on the above.

All input welcome

I am hoping to make use of Black Friday to try and bring the budget down but I don't expect miracles.

Intel/DDR5:

My basket at OcUK:

Total: £1,296.89 (includes delivery: £11.98)

Intel/DDR4:

I'm hoping for a decent discount on the 12600K on BF, back to £170-£180 or less, with a Z690 board on sale/clearance.

My basket at OcUK:

If you really really massage it and get a bit of luck with Black Friday deals a 14700K build is possible in that budget just about, the GPU is going to be the tough bit though unless going for something like a used 3000 series and making a bit of sacrifice on the case.

Thread Resurrection!

Thanks to those who replied previously, I appreciate the time taken and the imput given.

Well with 'Black Friday Sales' in full swing I have been slowly ordering parts as i do research on which fits my needs best so far i have bought:
  • Sapphire Pulse 7800XT
  • Phanteks G300A Eclipse Mid Tower Case
  • Gigabyte 650m Gaming X AX (ATX version).
I have been considering busting my budgeting abit and going for an AMD 7800x3D CPU (due to OCUK great pricing right now) although Gamers Nexus videos about failures on them from 6 months ago is giving me some level of pause. Are these issues solved? Is the 7800x3D going to serve me well going forward? is there much performance benefits over the 7700 or 7600X.

PSU wise I'm thinking about going for a Corsair RM850x but would like some reassurance that this good PSU Quality/value wise? Also with a 7800XT & 7800x3D is this going to be sufficient run these (I know certain GPU's pulling more power than the rails? can handle??

Probably going to go for 1TB or 2TB Samsung M.2 SSD of some description (~£100-£150), I will likely reuse my old SATA 256GB SSD for additional storage so not too worried about this

RAM again i've done less research here but likely to go or 32GB of 5600 DD5 RAM with a decent cas latency (~£100).

i have decided to go for Air cooling rather than AIO solution to save a few pounds as performance wise i understand there isnt a huge difference. Watched a lot of videos so have lots of options floating in my head. Trying to keep the height of it to a minimum to try and maximise airflow in the case so looking at the DeepCool AK400. Other suggestions are welcome on this!

I will likely get another couple of case fans as the G300A comes with 3x RGB fans which I plan to configure so that I am drawing air in through the front three fans and then exhaust with two further fans at the back and top of the case to create positive(?) air pressure to maximise cooling.

So in summary
  • CPU = 7800x3D is Good / No longer exploding?
  • PSU = Corsair RM850x good enough for a 7800XT and 7800x3D
  • SSD = 1-2TB M.2 - Suggestions welcome
  • RAM = DDR5 36GB Ram kit = Suggestions welcome
And yes the System in my Signature is accurate

So far as we know, yes. If your motherboard ships with a BIOS pre-fixes then I'd suggest you update to it.

is there much performance benefits over the 7700 or 7600X.
Have a watch:

It is fine. Review here:

The one in your sig could probably handle it.

RAM again i've done less research here but likely to go or 32GB of 5600 DD5 RAM with a decent cas latency (~£100).
That works (scaling video here). If you plan on keeping the RAM a long time then a faster speed might come in useful when you upgrade the CPU.
