EV general discussion

They'll just go round and change the badges on them all :D

Same as the KN brand. Which is a way for people to own a Kia without having to say they own a Kia.
I had no idea "KN" was a brand, I thought it was just KIA written funny.

Are idiots still concerned about driving a car without a german badge on it?

I don't think badge snobbery is as bad as it was. A few people still put value on German cars though for some reason. Probably based on historic reputation.

In the old days when they were built like panzers compared to stuff coming out of Rover etc it made more sense, but now they don't really hold the top spots for anything.

Good news for the area. After their early EV success, Nissan seem like they've fallen a way behind the curve recently. I hope the new models are going to be competitive.

They do need to crack on with it. Those segments are already pretty competitive in the EV space already and the Chinese brands are also preparing launches in the U.K.

My Energi Zappi 2.1 for some Intelligent Octopus goodness being installed on Sat, i-pace being delivered early next week!

Probably to combat the origin rule and save tariff cost for UK sales.

Dunno how many EVs Nissan expects to sell in UK market but the Ariya isn’t a fast selling car. Leaf is well dated. Building cars in UK then sell to Europe would not be very competitive.

Who knows what will become of these factories.

It would be more interesting if Tesla or BYD etc open up a factory here in UK which will have way more long term stability to the industry and local economy and benefits to UK consumer and be a disrupter to the market.

Yeah the leaf keeps pushing chademo for some reason, surely must hurt the sales.

Watching fully charged video on the byd seal, they're certainly taking an aggressive approach to expansion in the UK so watch this space

Just a question, not sure if its just me, but a lot of tesla's I see in front of me, the rear indictor light is seriously small, a little flashing square thats quite hard to notice. I mean Ive noticed it, lol, but can imagine some haven't. Are the rear indictors all like this on the Tesla range? Could Telsa not afford to make a bigger rear indictor.

It’s just the design.

There are now 2 versions fitted to cars. Newer cars tend to have a different tail light ‘design’. I say ‘design’ because they look very similar but elements light up differently and the indicators are much larger.

I've seen some videos showing the rear lights on the cybertruck, where the rear lights / brake light looks completely back to front.

Perhaps Elon is getting a little too involved in the design choices. Some things don't need revolutionising.

not sure if they will be importing the drivetrain though which, versus building body where existing production line could be adapted, is the high tech bit (along with battery) -
so, are Nissan really all-in, to uk.

It's out of budget, plus the 320i having such low miles and only a year old captured our attention.
Did anyone ask if electric/bev - polestar 2 for same £25k money https://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-details/202311234224088
but maybe insurance and £40K ved is prohibitive vs 320iM

[ not really convinced by symons premise that because a bev is typically faster 0-60 than petrol car the insurance is expected to be more
