See this is annoying, my mum has about 25% eyesight, nothing in one eye and about 50% coverage in the other and yet has been told she isn't eligible for a TV licence discount.

She needs to ask for a CVI (certificate of visual impairment) next time she sees her eye consultant. Then from her eye history and Snellen readings etc, the consultant will mark her as either visually impaired or severely visually impaired / blind. As I'm in the bottom 0.5% for eyesight vs the general population, I got marked the latter which helped both with TV licensing and also in my PIP application. Hope this helps and that she can get this done.

I see that in 1972 a Bottle of Whiskey was £2.52 -- 20 Ciggys were 26.5p --- Sherry £1.25p and Beer 14-18p.

It was worth having at the time. I was a nipper then at 28

In 1970 though a pack of twenty No.6 was 4 shillings (20p) and a pint of bitter 1/11 or just under 10 new pence. A 10 bob note went quite a long way however post decimalisation inflation started to bite. I was 18. :D

Go farmfoods instead, good loo rolls, not insanely priced. Their jumbo sized kitchen roll is also £1 cheaper than the similar sized ones from other supermarkets.

With these savings, after another 50 ears you can then go on that cruise :D

Ah memories, No.6 was the fag of choice in 1970 when I was a schoolboy! :p

And I remember taking a girl out on my first date with a ten bob note that my dad gave me for helping him with decorating!

It covered bus fares, cinema tickets (can't remember what film :p) and two portions of fish n' chips! :D
