So as per title, I'm unsure of what to do now. I was planning to buy a whole new rig early next year and pass on my current build to my son who would play stuff like Minecraft and Roblox and the likes. So I'm wondering what to replace my 1080ti with? Something that's pretty budget friendly (dont really want to spend more than £350) and would run the said games pretty well.

Any advice would be much appreciated.
 
Not the best time for a GPU to die, when both Nvidia and AMD aren't releasing decent options at the more affordable mainstream prices.
Luckily there are still previous gen cards still available at those price points.

The best bet right now is either a 6750xt (I've seen one for £325) or even a £300 6700XT.
Both hold up well either trading blows or handily beating 3060ti, depending on game. The 6750xt can perform as well as the overpriced new 4060ti in some situations.
Both come with 12GB VRAM, a slight upgrade on the 1080 ti's 11GB, as opposed to the 8GB downgrade of the 3060ti/4060ti.
Extra VRAM can help running those shaders and high-res texture packs on the likes of Minecraft.

It's a shame that back in the day, one could get an x70 class GPU from Nvidia performing on par with previous gens top dog £350 and under, but those days are long gone.
4070s are way out of budget at £500 and can't hold a candle against 3090, let alone 3090ti.

If its about to be used for Minecraft duty pretty soon, I wouldn't spend more than a £250 AMD 7600. A 2nd hand 6600 or 5700 would be cheaper.

I did temporarily replace my 1080ti with. a 3060, but I specifically needed 12gb+ and CUDA.

@Ciegeman If overclockers is your shop I would get the 6700XT that is currently in stock for 340. There is also one for 320 but thats a preorder item. The rest of the offerings under 350 just stinks no matter the manufacturer IMHO.

Ive never gone with AMD before, would there be any issues with compatibility in swapping GPU and would you think its worth pushing to £400 for the 6750XT?

Thanks, I think ill dig deeper into a 6750xt as seems worth that extra 50£ onto the budget.
 
Absolute nightmare that it has happened at the most expensive time of the year but the RX6750XT is a great choice. Top cards and perform way above their pay grade!

It is, but such is life. Would you worry about the brand of the GPU? Ive seen XFX (never heard of them) a good 70£ cheaper than the ASUS model.

From what i am aware the Merc 319 if that's the XFX you are referring to I think its a pretty good unit and the XFX cooling solutions from my previous experience over 5-6 cards across multiple generations have been pretty cracking. Believe that they have been around a long time and are actually the PINE Group and the XFX is a brand name, they have been making GPU's since the early 90's

is the ASUS one you are looking at the STRIX? STRIX tax is a well known thing, they are without fail at the top of the price chart for a version of a card. Great units but I would say not THAT much better.

I had the dual fan bottom of the line Powercolour Fighter 6700xt (like the Asus DUAL) and even with a small 2 fan cooling solution it never got hot and ran like a dream so can only imagine the XFX unit is going to be spot on :)

Great, it is the qick I was looking at, but its another 60£ for the merc. Ye I have never heard of them so glad to hear they have been around the block.

No, the ASUS one is the one on overclockers, dual fan Radeon for £399

It's lit up but I'm assuming its not doing anything. I run dual monitors and I'm only getting one display working and checking the display settings I'm just running off onboard graphics, so I'm guessing its packed up? unless you can tell me otherwise lol.
