im building my daughter a new gaming pc and i just wanted to know if the above board works with 14th gen cpu, some say it does and some say it does not could do with some help before i make the purchase
with thanks kenny

Out of the box: maybe not, because this is not one of the 14th boards (MSI calls their boards MAX).

But, it has flashback (without a supported CPU), so even if it doesn't boot, you can still flash it.

cheers guys i have just contacted overclockers and decided to go with the MSI MPG Z790 EDGE WIFI Motherboard, with a bios update all should be fine

Lovely motherboard but a bit of a price jump.
yeh i did notice that the all white msi build has come to just over 2k with a 4060ti was trying to keep cost down with going the normal black route but being 13 years old and looking at white builds on you tube she was set on it lol

What is the CPU?

There are other white boards, like Asus B760-A, ASRock B760 Pro RS, MSI B760M Gaming Plus.

Only the B760-A has flashback, but if you're getting e.g. a 14600K, you don't really lose anything by switching to the 13600K.

Intel® Core™ i5-14600K Desktop Processor 14 cores (6 P-cores + 8 E-cores) up to 5.3 GHz

It depends on the board obviously, but if we take the B760M Gaming Plus (white heatsinks), then that's around £150, whereas the Z790 Edge is £350. The 14600K has nowhere near the performance advantage to justify that price difference.

Though, I suspect the B760M Gaming Plus is actually compatible with 14th gen out of the box, because the earliest bios version available matches the bios that MSI say is required for 14th gen. This only applies to the B760M though (i.e. the Micro-ATX version), it does not apply to the B760 Gaming Plus you mentioned originally.
