7900xt for £750 or wait?

Had a 3070 Palit, great though it was, now however, I wouldn't buy Palit/GW due to possible RMA ballaches with customs forms to fill and return post charges from Asia after the first yr of warranty is up.

Zotac I think still has UK RMA centre so that would be my choice of the three.

Longest warranty of any vendor too, 3 years standard and 5 if you register within 30 days.

Zotac has slipped into first place in terms of warranty/after sales, since EVGA stopped making GPUs - they're now the only firm who offer a five year warranty.

The 5yr Zotac warranty, I'm sceptical about, registered my 1070 Extreme within 30 days for the 5yr warranty and all I got my end was an on screen pop up confirming it was registered for 5yrs.

No confirmation email nothing.

But when I replaced it with a 20 series GPU, I checked with Zotac to see what the remaining warranty was and there was no record at Zotac for the 5yr warranty so just kept it anyway as I really really liked the finished product, probably the best built GPU I've ever bought.:(

Plus read on here that Zotac weren't interested with a 4 yr old GPU that went faulty-but to be fair I don't know 100% that it wasn't a user to blame regarding the rejection reason.

But I'd still take the 3 yr UK RMA as advertised without the extra 2 yrs it wouldn't put me off buying one if it's as good as comparable offerings.:)

I've also heard that in the event they can't provide a replacement, they will pro-rata the refund amount (someone here posted that they had an issue with a 4090 and the amount refunded was reduced by around 25%....)

Then again they're all within their rights to do the same and I wouldn't expect any better from the likes of Asus, MSI etc.

I paid to extend my warranty on my 2080Ti FTW, so it's covered until end of 2028; how EVGA will provide support in the event of a failure (repair, replace, refund, etc) remains to be seen.

When I buy a new GPU, it'll be Sapphire for Radeon, or Zotac for Nvidia.
I did see the thread about the zotac 4090, looks like he has resolved it now and got a replacement 4090. Seems like the issues was with the store he purchased it from rather than zotac.

I would usually go sapphire or powercolor for amd, they're the best but usually the priciest, seems strange that lots of people recommend zotac yet they seem to be one of the cheaper brands for aib boards

I hadn't seen the update to his thread, glad it got resolved.

Yeah I am very impressed with my sapphire pulse 7900xt and would probably stick to them or powercolor for AMD.

I've seen people say the opposite, but I've always quite liked the appearance of the zotac cards so alongside the pricing and warranty would be very likely to get my money for a nVidia AIB... Although I'd almost certainly opt for an FE for any model where one was available, I don't think any other card I've had came close to the build quality of my 3060ti FE!

The 7900xt was £699 at ocuk at one point, so it would need to come down to at least that price now there is increased competition from the supers. Id wait until the end of the month. See if the 4080 super encourages some price drops on the xtx, which might push the xt down to at least where it was at £700

Tbh I was happy wit my 7900xt at £699, but wouldn't have paid any more for it at the time, that was ~9 months ago.

I don't think I'd pay more than £650 for one now
I bought one at that price back then and I rate it as one of the best cards I've owned; a genuine toss up between that and the 980ti.

That was almost 6 months ago, so it would really need to be priced below £600 for me to be buying one now.

Don’t forget there are other options 3840x1600 is less punishing than 4k. About 2 million pixels less.

Yeah, I now run borderless windowed with this res on my 4K TV as the ultrawide aspect is very cinematic/immersive, and the performance boost is significant (6m pics vs 8m for 4K).

The 7900 XT just seems overpriced at £750 at this stage in the product cycle, I agree that around £650 it would be a good buy. Still not good compared to the MSRP value of the previous gen, but it is what it is.

Shouldn't the RMA number on the box + address to a non residential address make that not an issue? I've returned 1 or 2 things to China and didn't require any extra steps, though those were within a certain return window. Cost for shipping is probably the biggest factor though yeah.

Out of interest how are you finding the switch to a 4k monitor vs 1440?

I'm finding the pixel density to be a good uplift, even with the size upgrade from 27 to 32. I got an Odyssey G7 Neo so the immersion is great in games I think and still keeping the 144+hz refresh.

The only downside to 4k so far is needing a beefier GPU I.e 4080/7900 class card. The 3070ti does a pretty good job to be fair as well at this res, after turning some settings down a bit and using DLSS. I'm definitely looking out for a card to do 4k high refresh justice but without spending 4090 money if possible!

Yea I love my 7900xt, got it in July last year when it was £699 with Starfield as well, although the game turned out to be a lemon, I would have still probably bought it at release, so factor £60 for that the card was effectively £640.

I'm already at the point where my 5800x CPU is letting it down (a bit), at 1440p, and a 5800x is still a decent CPU.

Im keeping my eye out for that new Alienware 32" 4k oled monitor, for some reason its not available in the UK yet but Americans have this monitor already and its readily available there, Im gonna get this to replace my Alienware 34" AW3423DW

I'm tempted to do the same, but going to hold off initially until they've got to the bottom of the overheating issues

For folk talking about <£700 7900XTs, the XFX Speedster Merc 310 has dropped down to £700 now.
Still not as low as the £650 we saw last year, but better than £750 we were seeing a month ago.

Hi all, bought a Powercolour Hellhound 7900xt last week for £719, replaced my RTX 3060Ti, very happy so far.
Only play DCS World at 1080p so can’t give any feedback on 4K or 2k but it as it should totally outclasses the 3060ti
