Road Cycling

Anyone elses dropper posts need the tension adjusting all the time? mine seems to last about 6 months then has no tension on the cable.

my cables always been twisted under the dropper post though like someone attached the cable, put the dropper in and then spun the dropper 360 degrees., I tried to straighten the cable but it doesn't really wanna go straight...
Honestly, I don't care if people ride ebikes and get 0 workout (as long as they aren't **** riders on trails and are chewing them up). Its just annoying when you see someone who clearly needs a workout who is claiming its a workout as he buzzes around the trails peddling just enough to kick in the motor. You can usually recognise them because they are peddling with their saddle about 5 inches too low.
yea probably not good for the motors to be so far from their peak efficiency as well which is around 80-100, so your supposed to pedal as fast as you would on an analogue bike, just the hills don't kill your legs, but no one is getting thunder thighs from cycling anyway

Some guy on a gravel bike overtook me so I had the goal to keep pace the whole ride :D

he came behind me and rang his bell to over take on a slow corner, he waited till he was so close I thought it was y own bell catching a charging cable for my phone and muttered "WTF" lol

I think the guy heard me cos he tried to explain he was just letting me know he was behind me, and t hen I followed him for about 5 miles

He pulled over at the side and said something, IDK if he thought I was anger cycling behind him lol, I just flew by at 16mph and kept going.

What road shoes are people rocking at the moment.
I'm need a new pair - have worn Specialized SWorks 7 but I need something a little wider I think despite me having quite narrow feet.
Anyone got the Shimano RC9s? Other recommendations?

Hmm, I'm curius. Is this the saddle everyone is raving about? I'm guessing it's comfortable then? How much are you looking for?
It’s one of them - someone posted the link earlier in the thread. I was really impressed with the comfort and quality so just trying another option with a skinnier nose. £28 posted? Send me a trust if so. :)

Thanks, I'll probably leave it. As I say, it was kind of a curiosity. I really shouldn't acquire any more saddles...

After the talk of ebikes, i finally got a proper run out on one yesterday. I built 2 up, one for my wife and another for my dad after he was impressed with the wifes. Each using the Bafang mid drive motor.

Yesterday i wanted to climb a local rock (Ifach in Calpe) but didn't want to drive and i thought a normal bike ride might've tired my legs out. Especially for the return leg. My dads also been complaining of his doing weird things so i went on his bike. As they're self built they're not limited to normal restrictions so can do around 30mph, and also have a throttle if you're feeling really lazy.

Was amusing flying up hills past "proper" cyclists, whilst on a step through bike :D Got some weird looks, but also not sure if it's because i had my running vest on with 2 softflasks on the front.

His bike does need some maintenance though. It doesn't change gear very well, and slips a lot. Weirdly it only does it when pedaling under load. If using the throttle it seems to work fine, likewise when having it on the stand and turning the cranks it changes gears smoothly. The brakes also seem terrible. I feel a little bad as i'd bought my wife the top spec version of the bike (Cannondale Adventure), but saw a decent deal for the model down for my dad which only had mechanical disc brakes and Microshift deraileur vs the Shimano Tourney of my wifes. Hadn't realised how terrible the mechanical brakes would be, and given my dad must weight around 120kg, the extra stopping power would be useful.

Yeah there's quite a few of the Ryet AliExpress saddles. I think they copy your main brands design. The one I have is 'based' on the Fizik Antares. Some are the Specialized Power saddle etc.

I have a pair of Shimano RC7's as the shop didn't have the RC9's in my size. I have used them now for a couple of seasons now found them to be very comfortable and will i reckon i could get another year out of them and will probally relegate them to turbo duties only. I also have a pair of DMT KR 3's but i find they get a bit tight on the sides of my feet on longer harder rides and only having one point to secure to your foot feels a little weird initially but you do get used to it.

think I have some cheapo Fizik Tempo, or something. Maybe £120 at a push.

They're fine. Don't really have much to compare them to. I find after 3-4 hours my feet, especially my right, gets a bit sore on the outside 'edge'. Though I'm not sure how much of that is down to the actual shoe and how much is down to my cleat being off, if it is off.

edit: These are the ones I've got. I'm fairly sure I paid less than £160 for them. Though I did it as part of cycle to work

I have some £300+ Lake shoes, but recently I've been wearing some DHB that I got from Wiggle for £10 (reduced from £80) and they're really comfy!

Where are you based?
some bike fitters like mine, that sell shoes, will align cleats and all when you get shoes from them. that can include foot specific sole etc.

Lake shoes come in wide. Fizik are wider than Spec - moved to sworks 7s and are much more narrower.
Mavic shoes are really narrow from what I remember

if yuo like current shoes, just gat same brand

Thanks for that. It's a good shout. Whilst I don't really want to spring for another fit I've come to realise that comfort on the bike is not to be scrimped on. I'm in Bedfordshire so I'll maybe look up who is fitting here or in North London as I'm in and out of town with work.
A decent pair of shoes lasts for years for me as I'm not using the sames ones year round so worth investing in. I think I bought the Sworks 7 in 2016 or 2017.

I've got XC7, XC9, RC7, RC9s.

The RC9 are super stiff, only ridden them a few times at the end of last summer, good for shorter rides of 2-3 hours, but did wear them for one longer one (5ish hours) and my feet got quite painful towards the end of the ride, but suspet some of this would be from them not being worn in fully.
