My wife says that the very expensive ones are just trendy kitchen accessories not worth wasting money on. :cool:

Our last Braun kettle (£35) got chucked after five years as it started looking a bit rough and got replaced by the same.
 
My wife always wants aesthetically pleasing and matching toasters and kettles too. We just got rid (gave away on freecycle) of a really good toaster and we've now got a pleasant but not so functional one. She knows I'm not happy about it, but sometimes you must concede. I think the matching kettle might show its true colours soon as it already looks a bit sad. I hope it dies and we can send it back and get something functionally excellent.

The really functional toaster was actually very nice as well, though quite expensive. Annoyingly, I can't remember which one it was.

your budget's out - the Which award winning Asda ones were about £13ea -
once you have done the purchase analysis to decide on model it's cost efficient to buy a couple if on deal.

Dualit one immediately fails my design criteria of not being able to pop-lid and fill 1L tea-pot in about 5s - it would take 20s+ to empty contents through that spout (whilst you admire your purchase)

It is totally serviceable - for example I can swap the kettle itself or the base that gives it power. In fact, I have replaced the kettle itself twice and my base once. Totally serviceable unlike other models.

The same as the toaster then? That's good to know, a local electronics repair guy recommends them and eventually I'll probably get a set
 
On the subject of wimmin - mine this morning shouted at me when honestly she could have just spoken to me. I told her off for shouting at me and explained that I agreed with her point but the delivery didn’t need to be so aggressive.

She told ME off for telling her off for the way she spoke to ME.

I was so confused by this point that I just gave up.

tell me about it must be a monday thing... i got up early and baked some butterfly cakes for the grand kids as school holidays...thought that be a nice surprise...
how wrong, got cold shoulder after being told off, apparently i had used the new mixer 3 times now and she only once..cant work other halfs out.
 
£100 is not as crazy as you think, i remember on another forum where there were some quite well off people and they were talking about buying these instant boiling water taps contraptions for insane money.

( missed that - I assume he didn't mean he'd made all those maintenance interventions during his 3 years of ownership )
