Epic Games allegedly hacked

Not a problem if you have multi factor enabled on your account. Which you should anyway.

Definitely a problem even so. I have MFA enabled and went straight in and changed my password. No 2FA confirmation required.

Would be good if the hackers could keep claiming the games going forward. Its become a bit of a chore doing it weekly lol.

Epic Games say currently no evidence they have been hacked including contacting the hacker group and got no response.

UPDATE 1.20pm UK: Epic Games has moved quickly to calm fears of a potential ransomware attack, after a group claimed to have breach the company's servers and stolen data.

"We are investigating but there is currently zero evidence that these claims are legitimate," an Epic Games spokesperson told Eurogamer this morning.

"[Ransomware group] Mogilievich has not contacted Epic or provided any proof of the veracity of these allegations. When we saw these allegations, which were a screenshot of a darkweb webpage in a Tweet from a third party, we began investigating within minutes and reached out to Mogilevich for proof. Mogilevich has not responded. The closest thing we have seen to a response is this Tweet, where they allegedly ask for $15k and 'proof of funds' to hand over the purported data.

The above update was about an hour before this thread was created so....

For any hackers watching this thread, no need to try so hard, just DM me and you can have the account, not like I'd ever buy anything on Epic.

Edit. I should have expected the DM I got

My (unique to) epic games password was compromised. Missed this news

Edit: seems it was fake anyway.

Opened my phone this morning to an email asking for the 2FA. I’ve since changed the password
