Hi,

I'm going to be moving into rented accommodation in the next few months, but need to renew current buildings/contents insurance shortly. Normally I just do this as standard 12 month policy with one annual payment.

What's the cheapest way to do this if you know you need to cancel within 2-3 months?
- Pay standard 12 month cost, and hope for a refund with some small admin charges?
- Switch to Pay monthly, just cancel when required - would this have any additional charges to terminate the policy? Seems like this is the best choice?
- Specialist provider that does shorter policies

Thanks

Pay monthly is just a yearly policy with added interest no?
Yeah, this is right. This will be your most expensive option. Definitely don’t just stop paying either - defaulting on a credit agreement won’t do you any good.

I’d talk to an insurance broker re. the other two options.
