It can be done automatically depending on the inverter you're using, other automated option is home assistant, other options exist but I'm not aware of those.

Loving days like today. House and car batteries topped up (9kWh + 15 kWh), dishwasher and washing done, immersion heating the water at 3kWh...

Yep, well bit higher on the DNO than I thought it seems.

System wise we have:

7kw panels on east facing roof
5kw SolarEdge inverter
3kw GivEnergy inverter/BMS thingie
9kw battery
