Hey all!

Friend is feeling the upgrade itch, they play exclusively world of tanks.

They’ve sent links for some pre builts from a popular wholesale store for around £850, based around the 5700X and a 4060.

Feel like there’s better value out there and maybe an AM5 build, and I don’t mind building for them :)

Will be just the PC.

My knowledge of builds in this price range is definitely lacking so any help would be greatly appreciated:D

Comparable build for a bit less but will be better components.

My basket at OcUK:

Total: £801.84 (includes delivery: £0.00)

AM5 build. Same case but with MATX motherboard. CPU comes with a cooler so you don't have to use the one listed.

My basket at OcUK:

Total: £902.83 (includes delivery: £0.00)

Thanks all!

I think @freddie64 is my fave so far, maybe swap the case out for an M-ATX case :)

Would there be any value in spending a touch more an getting a 7700XT in there for the 16GB VRAM?

While currently they only play WoT, a new PC might see them trying out new games or maybe even getting a new 1440p higher refresh rate monitor.

ATX board for the case i speced.

Total: £173.99 (includes delivery: £3.99)

The 7700XT (12GB VRAM) will be quite a bit better, tried getting some comparison vids but they are either 4060ti vs 7700XT or the CPU is intel 14900k. Maybe someone else will have better luck.

Also, it will run hotter so did not want to spec a smaller case. Again, someone else may help with this.

EDIT

I think M-ATX would be preferred, but thanks for the case recommendation :)

Looks like with @freddie64 's spec plus a 6750XT as per @mickyflinn 's advice would make a tidy little system for around £930, thanks for the help as always guys! :D

diff case if friend likes to see in with bit rgb. case has 4 fans and the 3 side intakes are reverse blade so you see the nice side...for an MSI case, it actually has good reviews. Steve at HU unboxed has the white one in the background in his recent vids I think. 7600 comes with cooler in the box, but can just get cooler above. put a different mobo is..slightly more than the msi board above..slightly better vrm's but really just as an alternative... @Megahurtz400 as you're a member of MM, you could always plum for a 2nd hand gpu for your friend...seem 3070 go for £265 recently, and a 3080 for £345, though haven't been following closely

Ended up going with the following (with the £300 6750XT), will post a little post build review and photos once it’s done in here :)
that’s a lovely and balanced system and I think you’ll be very happy with it.

Update the BIOS when you get it and keep it up to date so if you want to upgrade to an X3D CPU down the road (not that you’ll need it for WOT), it’s all ready to go.

Enable AMDs auto overclocking functionality in BIOS too (can’t recall the name) as that’ll allow your CPU to run at a higher TDP.

Keep an eye on temps with the stock cooler and if you’re seeing 95 degrees or so, upgrade to a cheaper tower cooler.

PBO ....Precision Boost Overdrive. From quick look online in msi bios, there a button on left saying OC setting...click that and then change PBO from auto to enabled...save, and you're done
oh, and remember to enable expo for ram

That’s it! Thanks Craig.

I’ve used it before and it’s good enough that I use it instead of doing a manual overclock.

A manual overclock is better but it’s way more effort and takes way more stability testing.

@freddie64 yep that’s the plan, will just use the stock CPU cooler but do some stress testing before handing it over to check temps :)

Thanks for the advice on the AMD overclock and the EXPO reminder.

When I set up my 7800X3D I forgot to turn that on for months
