Spec me a build for 2-2.5k

i don't see anything that needs 32gb. i think by the time we do, as said, ram will be a lot faster, so if you're a high end gamer, you'll prob sell what you have and buy new faster ram, or we'll be on ddr6.
Yeah, that's the crux of the issue and it does depend a lot on how the PC is used and the games played.

I don't like to sell memory on, I prefer to buy high capacity sticks and then keep or re-use it for other builds. I stopped buying 8GB sticks quite awhile ago for that reason.

In 4-5 years time, I guess we'll know the answer :D

It's difficult to really give a list as it is a bit of a niche use case, it's very often sims, survival type games, or city builders where you can load up on a lot of mods or there's a ton of potential asset generation. I think Ark can become pretty nuts, MSFS used to be capable of using bucket loads in certain situations too but I've no idea if that remains true. That said, RAM is so cheap at the moment I think springing for the extra is worth it if only for the sake of future proofing a little while considering the problems with running more than two sticks of DDR5. You're only looking at an extra £30-40 to bump up to 48-65gb, in fact there's actually some 48gb sets on pre-order at the moment for £80:

My basket at OcUK:

Total: £159.98 (includes delivery: £0.00)
here endeth the discussion...48gb 7600C36 for £80..puts paid to the idea of buying now as it'll be cheaper in the future as we seem to of caught up in the space of this thread  ...cheaper than 32GB 6000c30. Wonder if they priced that right. Buy it now...those that bought 64gb for £200+ the last few months back might be looking at that with a sinking heart....

Pink...we need to tell @MattK01 to save for a am5 ddr5 combo now to get the pink Ram for his girlfriend

£80 for 48gigs at 7600 MT/s is outrageously cheap and even if it doesn’t overclock that well, you can just run it at stock XMP/EXPO speeds or downclock it and reduce the timings for AMD.

I want to move from my 5700X to an X3D CPU but that’s more than likely going to be an AM5 system given the price to performance and picking up the odd kit of RAM on the cheap that I can tinker with now is tempting.

I’m wondering how Intels voltage issues is going to impact the used parts market in 6 to 18 months time when people are upgrading from a borked 13900K to a Core Ultra series?
