So it's a Lazy Sunday & I've been waiting to write this up for the last couple of months but life always seems to get in the way,
Anyway this is going to be my second PC build my first is still going strong and the fact it didn't blow up on me when I first turned still amazes me.

I have added a parts list below for my next build I like the look & style of the Thermaltake Tower 300 so everything is based around that I think all the components are compatible but I would appreciate it if there's something I've overlooked or anything I could improve on

Can you clarify what you use the PC for?

Memory #1 - G.Skill Trident Z5 Royal 64 GB (2 x 32 GB) DDR5-6400 CL32 Memory

There's no way that's going to work with XMP/EXPO enabled, are you aware of that?

Hey @Tetras thanks for the reply I use the PC for my day-to-day life work photoshop Films etc..
when you say it's not going to work with XMP/EXPO enabled I'm presuming you mean overclocking? I'm still too fresh behind the ears for that

I currently run 2x sticks of G.Skill Trident on my first build but there 2x 16GB do you think i need to swap them out on the new build for something else?

If you let them just run however it boots, it should work (hopefully), but the speed will be somewhere around 4000-4800 (depending on how the board configures them).

If you enable XMP/EXPO (which overclocks the CPU's memory controller) to run them at 6400, it won't work. AMD only rates their memory controller to 3600 with 4x dual rank (almost all 32GB are dual rank) sticks.

There have been some improvements since AM5 launched and it handles 4 sticks much better than it used to, but I can still say with some certainty that these sticks won't work at G.Skill's rated speed.

Old video on the topic:

Ah. I'd expect a 7950X to be overkill for that, you'd be getting 16 cores :o

@Tetras thanks will give this a watch would there be any rams that you could recommend to resolve this issue? i would prefer to upgrade to fore sticks but if two works so be it thanks again :)

Well, the only recommendation would be to buy cheaper RAM, since fast RAM is pointless :D

I'd suggest having a little read around on places like reddit and see if you can find out what RAM speed people are getting (on average) with the 7950X (and maybe include the 9700X/9900X, etc) in late-2024.

I'd include 48GB in your searches too (4x48, 192GB), since you might find that there's actually more success with that combo than with 128GB.
