Got sky and just using the supplied router/modem, however, having issues with thinkbroadband and monitoring for packet loss. Gone into the router settings and manually changed firewall settings for both ipv4 and 6 to allow ICMP but still not working.

Also, having issues with plex losing access/not authorised since coming from virgin media and a restart might solve it.

Any ideas on both issues?

If it's the latest router, it could be map-t. Sky have deployed that now.

Multiple people sharing same ip similar to CGNAT, that breaks the monitor. You can apparently opt out on Sky though by either manually port forwarding or turning on upnp and it will give you your own ip once it realises you want to use port forwarding.

Thanks, it is indeed MAP-T.

I came across the UPNP setting in the sky forums and that doesn't seem to work for me at all, the sharing ratio stays at 8:1 instead of changing to 1:1 (reset the router too). Didn't touch port forwarding though.

EDIT:

I also contacted sky to ask them to exclude me from this map-t but as expected, they didn't have a clue and just said it wasn't possible.....

EDIT:

Using the my sky app for port forwarding is awful too, can't even locate the setting.

Set the IPv6 firewall to custom making sure ICMP isn't ticked and then set the BQM up with your v6 address.

What are you pointing TBB at? Are you pointing it at an IPv4 address or IPv6 address?

Please don't use UPnP - if you turned it on earlier and haven't turned it off yet - please do!

Tried both ipv4 and ipv6 address. With ipv6 enabled, TBB automatically picks that. Tried with and without DHCP and still can't get the monitor working :/

And yup upnp is off too.

It is weird as the TBB trace route test works and shows pings.

The IPv6 address that TBB will be selecting is your PC one, you need to find the WAN IP of the router itself and give that to the monitor. It should be on the status page somewhere.

This was it in the end! Did try using the ipv6 address that ip sites were giving me but didn't work either so just tried every address in sky status and got it. Thanks!

Thanks for that. You have no idea how hard it is to ask someone to screenshot the beginning of a bqm graph. For some reason (for me anyway) it always showing a very small percentage of dropped packets at the very start and I wondered if it was normal, now I know.
