Nothing moves faster than a lifetime. Senna, the limited series about the driver destined to be a hero, streams on November 29 only on Netflix.
 
I was going to say, we don't need another documentary after the brilliant Senna film, but I didn't realise this was a drama. I'll give it a watch :)
 
Quite cool seeing the Toleman days. My dad run their local pub of choice and latterly, during the Benetton years, I walked past the units on the way to school (Pre Enstone)
 
I'm seriously excited for this - yes there will be some CGI and cheesy moments but overall seeing the work put into it, it is looking great. A more update version of Rush
 
I thought his story was well told in the excellent movie but the behind the scenes info does make it look like it might be decent and not just another CGI-fest.
 
Enjoyed the first episode but make sure to switch the language to native and turn on English subtitles, it's just so much better.

I'm also intrigued as to how they found mountains in Norfolk ;)
 
Pointless fact.
My mum and dad met him when he came over to race in England.
Would have been around the Norwich area, something along the lines of my Dad's company rented caravans out as lodgings for certain race events.
 
Hmm I enjoyed the documentary and have a massive book about Senna but what does this add about him that hasn't already been well told? Might give it a go but not in a rush.
 
Watching the second episode at the moment and the budget for this must be low as they only ever seem to race at one track lol

It's not completely terrible though.

Edit: The scene at the start of episode 2 with the drunk British hooligans in the background all pressed up against the fence verbally abusing him was so random, did there used to be hooligan culture at junior Formula races back in the day or something ? they made them look like total neanderthals... all supposedly Brundle fans as well :cry:

Creative liberties galore me thinks. Funny though.

Well, it's not bad.

As @imtoooldforthis notes, creative liberties abound. Mountains in Norfolk was particularly grating :p As were some of the things glossed over - almost nothing about Mansell, most of what there is with Prost is pretty surface-level. The 1992 season gets missed entirely in episode five, we go directly from the '91 title to an after party following his race win in Brazil '93. And then the rest of '93 isn't shown and we go direct to Senna testing a Williams in 1994.

The racing action is reasonably well done, where they didn't just use cleaned-up real life footage. Great music choices. Casting...some excellent picks, Gabriel Leone is very good in the title role but so also notably is Johannes Heinrichs as Niki Lauda. I never thought I'd see Niki done as well as Daniel Brühl in Rush, but this guy has the part nailed.

And the last episode, with the events of Imola '94. Equal parts harrowing and infuriating, much like the actual weekend was.[/quote]
 
Watched it all and imo It’s basically a fluff piece for Brazilian audiences.

Makes him out to be a saint and goes down the typical Prost villain narrative etc

Also the people who do CGI for racing films/series never seem to have any understanding of car physics.

It's ok. The script is a bit awkward, the acting a bit hammy and bits of it look like a computer game.

The score is horrible too.

Not as good as I hoped.

That's exactly what I said to my wife the instant the camera panned over the mountains and it said it was Norfolk.

First episode was ok, but nothing to make me in any rush to watch anymore.
