The one place drop seems almost a pointless penalty…..

It's something they want to be seen to punish but not particularly harshly by the look of it.

They said at the start of the season they'd be paying closer attention to people driving unnecessarily slowly and Max has already had two visits to the stewards room this season for it, one being a let off, one resulting in a warning.

The penalty point was more of a punishment tbh. But it was a potentially dangerous situation.

Yea safety nowadays is fantastic.

I was in the super cup paddock visiting harry king a year ago at silverstone. The cars are insane. Light and safe. The door literally weighed sod all! Amazing they get the crash protection and the lightness.

It might change the outcome of the race, depending on how Russell fares later today. Also, it will be very funny if the 1 extra penalty point ends up causing Max a one race ban.

Cracking race, likely be another case of the support races being better than the F1 race. F1 really needs to get rid of tyre blankets, some great racing there as some worked up their temperature and others had an advantage.

Half a point in it for the F2 championship with 1 weekend to go.

Not keen on the verstappen penalty as both on cool laps.

Totally bizarre to give a 1 place penalty. And I bet if it wasn't p1/p2 they wouldn't have given it.

Not even sure why they did. WDC is wrapped up. Seems like unnecessary meddling

Another classic case of the FIA having rules, not bothering to enforce them (Min Delta Times, they all get referrered but no punishment) and then when something actually happens with it they have to act. Will only cause issues in the future now it's happened once, will give the drivers something else to moan about :o

Did seem a fair bit of damage. Shame as the F1A races are generally a good watch.

Cos Chadwick left and the others could semi-randomly have a chance for a win? Some of them are hopeless. And no, I am not anti-womens motorsport, I enjoyed watching Chadwick show the others how to do it but the standard is pretty poor. Still, I guess the only way to encourage more girls to start out in MS.....

I think MBS needs to go and someone with some credibility is needed and then a root/branch enforcement of consistent rules. And fine Team Principals who whinge about rule enforcement. Or whose name rhymes with a part of the track too!

I don't really think that makes much difference, the problem is that he was driving excessively slowly and thus both causing a hazard and interfering with other drivers preparation for their laps. He was well over the time already and driving really extraordinarily slowly.

I'd rather they had a strict policy of penalising everyone who exceeds the specified time with a 3-place drop, except in truly exceptional cases - i.e. they should expect to have to let other drivers pass and plan for it - with, obviously, a higher penalty for actual impeding. But here we are, and the waving through of so many drivers makes Max's penalty for being a bit worse than the rest seem worth arguing over.

so if george was on a flying lap would he still have been going too fast?
max was on the racing line going to slow for the deltas, he was in the wrong!
