Arcade High Scores! Current Game: SPLATTERHOUSE - COME ON IN!

Has been a while!

Registering a score of 117750 for this one. I'll try to practice some more. Quite a difficult game but enjoyable :). I hate games that punish you with back to basic ship after dying. You got to a difficult point and died for a reason, don't need to make it even more harder (completely get the need to pump coins in - but I wonder how succesful this is/was surely a game you want to go back because you have a remote chance of completing seems more appealing).
 
@Spacedeck I realise how silly my 3rd selection probably is in hindsight. Can I choose Elevator Action Returns? Seems to be on Mame, Saturn and I believe PC/Xbox/PS4 have the arcade versions as well for those that might own them.

Made it past the first big boss with the basic setup and one upgrade, used my 3 bombs and dodged and went on to what seemed like the next stage, although it didn't say as much. Things a little frenetic here. Only had the one life though and there was no extra at 140,000 which I was rather hoping for.

One of the hardest game ever in my opinion. On my way home from school we used to call into the newsagents and there was usually someone on this game with a crowd of 4-5 people around them.

I had this running well on a DIY 4 button arcade stick 15 years or so ago. We used to play on a PC at work during lunchtime. Can't remember my settings though, although I believe I had thrust on the stick.

The original layout was a bit like this.

Ah, for some reason I thought it was this coming Sunday! I did have a score to submit but nevermind too late now. Truxton was cool, fluked past the first boss in similar fashion with the 3 bombs. My biggest gripe was dying and going back to the checkpoints, I realistically don't understand how people pumped coins into that, at least with some of these you get to continue with your progress / damage on the boss!
 
@JoeBoi please do still post the score if it improves on your score already posted! It will slot nicely into the leaderboards at the bottom of the page. A place I think many forget about, but you can play any game you like and I will add scores to that section as and when I get them. Just any scores added there can't be used if the game was selected for that given week and the score wasn't obtained in that week.

Ah cool, well thanks. My final score was 162,510. I did this last week and really wanted to come back and have another crack. I might try the original Truxton instead :).

 
15,975. Only a slight improvement on score but now managing to pick up falling humanoids and what not.

Getting to grips with controls a little. Last I played was probably on gamepad which might work well enough.
