Car park accident

the company he originally linked via suzuki aftercare link looked legit ... you are jumping to conclusions.

Claims management companies are all legitimate. They are all regulated by the FCA.

This is a claims management company with Suzuki as a client.

They're all "legit" doesn't mean it'll always as assumed for the person using them.

The hire car costs are immense. I was rear ended (ooh-err) 6 years ago and the parts needed were unavailable in the UK. Had to get stuff over from Germany. All in it took close to 4 weeks for the repair. Total repair costs were around £7k. The total cost of the claim including the [like-for-like] hire car was close to £17k.

Of course the other persons insurance had a total fit about it, but that was down to the insurance companies to sort out between each other. It's shocking really.

*update*

I cancelled the claim with the accident management company and informed my insurance on Saturday morning and got booked in for a garage to collect the car for repairs. 31st is earliest they can do which is ok as i wfh and only make short trips at this time of year.

I had a phone call earlier from the 3rd party insurer saying if i let them handle the claim/repair AND take a hire car they will pay me £500. Sounds good to me but am are there any cons for accepting this offer?

I dealt with the 3rd party insurer direct when I last got shunted about 10 years ago.

They are contacting you presumably so the costs don't get out of hand.

Given it is hardly a Rolls-Royce it might be worth the punt for 500 quid

yes but i have to take a hire car and i don't want to be liable for the costs. The £500 sounds too good to be true..
Isn't this the third party that is accepting responsibility? Or is it just some random firm?

It is the third part yes. I am a new to all this so just getting some advice to make sure i don't end up out of pocket.
If it's the actual third party that has presumably agreed they're liable at this point; it doesn't seem too mad. I guess the insurance company has a license to print money by declaring hire car costs as a cost to them; and then somewhere down the line, they probably own the hire car firm lol.

Seems sketch you need to cost them more money to earn yourself a stipend though.

remember the suzuki spiel had said this

EXCESS RETURN VOUCHER

When you get your Suzuki serviced at an approved Suzuki service centre, you’ll be able to get your hands on an Excess Return Voucher worth up to £200^.

So, if you’re involved in an accident and need to make a repair claim, we’ll pay up to £200 of your excess, no matter who you're insured with!

If it's coming direct from the 3rd parties insurer then it should be a safe option, it's basically a way of them being able to manage all costs in house and therefore not gamble on possibly being robbed by your insurance company for things like the hire care.

Well i have cancelled the repair work with my insurer and gone with the 3rd partys garage and i will be £500 up.

How strange that a little car accident has resulted in me being £500 up, it must be Christmas!

Ho ho ho merrry christmas all!

Unfortunately, insurers need to do this. If you had gone with the "Suzuki" accident management company, they would have ended up paying thousands extra.

sounds like a result, 3rd party insurer will know how much extra it costs when the other insurer deals with it instead of them so sounds like they are splitting the difference to save themselves a few quid as well.

Did they give you a web link, we can see, for the £500 option - how do they word it,
from email they sent..
