Subwoofer Advice - Old System

Looking for any advice that can be offered.

After a long renovation spate at home (for some context, moved house nearly 5 years ago, built a rear extension and have been living in the back of the house, decent room with kitchen & living area and a full Sonos setup, thus comfortable).

Since then the Lounge became a past thought for a while, but we have now brought the room back to use, new sofa, new TV etc., so I have dug out all my old audio gear - a Yamaha RX-V375 and a Monitor Audio Vector kit......only issue is the sub has cooked itself, bass tone when turning on, and a fishy electrical smell, so certainly something amiss.

Looking to replace the sub - any recommendations? Happy with buying used as well if there are any particular standouts.

FYI - the sub with the Vector kit that I have (now non-working) is the Vector VW-8, was good, but it would be great to get one with a bit more punch.

Absolutely, categorically BK.
My Gemini ii, bought in 2009, needed a replacement power board in 2021. They replaced it without fuss and all I paid was the shipping (£23) & part cost (about £14).

We had a similar spare of renovations and I bought 2x P12-300SB-PR for the new lounge.

Can't complain on finish on the subs but electronics seem a bit unreliable but at least UK made, and affordable and possible to repair unlike class D.

I did consider BK if they branched out into 15"+ models I'd have considered them for the HT.

Don't need a sub for the upstairs PC system but gem/xl200 would be fine, for close monitoring use prefer sealed box. I do have a 10" THX ported sub I could use hehe it's a bit big and overkill

Good to hear decent support as well from BK.
 
Another vote for BK. I've got the XLS300-FF and it's a great sub, goes low enough to pump vibrations through you. I went for a Grade "B" from their eBay store and it arrived completely mint for £338.86 + £10 postage.

Mine is a similar size room, 21.5m², with the volume being 64.5m³ (3m ceilings) and I'm only running it at around half power. I was also considering the SVS SB-1000 Pro, which PT have in at a discounted £549 at the moment, but it's hard to beat the XLS300 where you can save £200.

Bk even more sold to me, thank you. Going to have a close look and as above will look at B Grade as well.
 
I've had a BK Monolith-df for years and its been mega value for money. My room is similar size to yours and it more than does the job.

It developed a fault after a few years and customer service was brilliant and they sorted it out for free even though it was well out of warranty.

Another vote for BK.

Had a Gemini II, which was amazing for such a small sub. Have had an XXLS400DF since 2021.

If you buy direct from them, just don't expect it to arrive quickly. My XXLS400 took just over two weeks from order placement to delivery. Although I did specify a gloss finish.

I recall they are built to order?
I asked BK if they are developing a Double XLS400, that would be pretty cool. No luck :-/
