The Manchester United Club Thread

Mason Mount, Eriksen, Bruno, Caemiro and Mainoo can all play that position. Whether or not is perfect is debatable but they shouldn't be losing to Wolves or Bournemouth.

I really hope we can get good money for Rashford and some key players in January otherwise we are in a relegation battle!

Can play that position is not going to really work here. Casemiro as a 10? No chance.

Rashford's wages are going to prevent us getting a decent fee, I think.

We aren't getting good money for Rashford.
Amorim knows it will take all season to make any sort of progress. The good thing is that it will sort out the men from the boys in that squad. We really must get a left sided full back or wing back in January. Rumour is that we have made an approach for the Portugese lad at PSG - Nuno Mendes. Tbh it's a massive mistake from the club leaving us without a Left back for over a year, especially as we let Alvaro Fernandes go 18 months ago. He has a buy back for £25m.

Some big decisions ahead. I think there are only about 4/5 players who are safe - De Ligt, Mazraoui, Martinez, Amad, Mainoo, Ugarte. The captain might also find himself surplus. I still think he's one of the biggest problems and whilst he's a smart committed footballer he just doesn't seem to have the game to play this formation. He loses almost every duel, gives the ball away cheaply and often in dangerous positions, his corner taking and freekicks are gash and now his discipline has to be questioned. A big problem.

It's tough but doesn't feel as hopeless as it did with ten Hag, even if we do lose the next 2/3 games.

Just read that article, some of this cost cutting seems ridiculous when you've got the likes of Rashford etc on 350k a week. Not doing their community reputation many favours.

Ratcliffe brought in to save the club? Seems like since he's joined he's destroying it more than saving.

I just listened to Andy Mitten’s interview on TalkSport from yesterday, and it was eye-opening and concerning. He mentioned that every previous manager at United has had issues with Marcus Rashford.

Coming from someone as well-connected and respected as Mitten, who isn’t known for chasing clicks, to me this is incredibly damning.

There’s no chance Rashford will be there come February.

There’s every chance he will still be here. He’s got an incredibly ridiculous contract. We know we want him gone and that the player himself does too, but if that can’t be resolved, he’ll still be hanging around like a bad smell.

Yes, he has.
However, I’m surprised that Mitten has decided to bring this up at this moment. It makes me wonder if there’s something significant happening behind the scenes or if some development is on the horizon that we’re not yet aware of.

Rumours doing the rounds about Rashford, being sent home from training, more than one occasion for smelling of alcohol. Also, financial problems regarding the construction of a property in Alderley Edge.

We'd know if he'd been sent home early from training, it would be in every paper. Don't you remember when there were articles that Martial had got sent home early from training because he left Carrington early and it turned out he'd just come in accidentally on a day they weren't meant to be training :D

MU Foundation up next...

I’m sure these things could be more efficiently run but everything about ratcliffe and what he has done since coming in seems absolute garbage and wanting to reduce all costs that aren’t associated with on pitch performance

Honestly makes the glazers seem alright given they looked after people better (albeit not the stadium )

getting ready for relegation

It's the ultimate genius move from Radcliffe when you think about it. Man U to get relegated and no doubt a number of high profile players have a 'relegation release clause' so they get rid of the trouble makers in one swift move :p

The only thing he cant cut back on is players wages, as they are under contract. that there is where the BIG savings will happen eventually. Its swing and roundabouts really, say, you need to cut cost at home, you do some math and poof, you stop buying all the nice, chocolatey biscuits and stay with the plain digestives, you have saved £x per month. Then you cut out Coke cola, you saved £xx each month. Yeah you will get ****** off kids or upset wife or even feel crappy yourself for not having any chocolate biscuits. However, its for the better. You will have more money, feel probably, fitter/healthier, and everyone will forget about not having nice biscuits or cans of coke in a few months.

Not trying to defend him but I see what he is doing, as **** as it seems. After all hes a rather sucessful business man.

Yeah that’s it. They need to start cutting costs so he’s picking the low hanging fruit. Of course it looks terrible against the backdrop of under performing and over paid players but there isn’t much he can do about that just yet. I think the criticism is a bit harsh but it’s pretty easy sticking the boot in to almost all elements of that club right now.
There’s likely only one relegation spot up for grabs, there’s no way they are going down.

Rashford is gone, one way or another at this point. He is a spoilt brat who has been indulged and had smoke blown up his ass for too many years and much like Sancho, his fragile little ego can't take people not accepting his behaviour. I wouldn't be surprised if he has pulled on the shirt for the last time already.

If someone will take him in January he will be sold. I think they will probably accept whatever is on offer. The issue with a load is that if he doesn't start putting in a shift for another club that will make him borderline unsaleable.

Every day Rashford value is dropping lol who wants to take that on, maybe loan out while still paying most of the wages for him to play elsewhere same we doing with Sancho ? what a mess

I don't think his value is dropping at all. It will however take a massive hit if he goes elsewhere on loan and doesn't do anything. That would completely ruin his value. The value in a player like Rashford is his history. His purple patches. The idea that another manager and another club can get the best out of him. Once you accept that he doesn't care enough to play at the top level any more his value will reflect that.

On current evidence if we completely ignore his good periods he wouldn't be on much over £100k/week and he would be at a mid-level club who allows him to do as he wishes. A Zaha like player at Palace.
