Well if it's twice as powerful, you'd expect if there is no cpu limitation it would be twice as fast, or perhaps a bit less due to certain factors such as tdp as someone mentioned.

I might get a 5080 anyway, childcare costs are going free this month due to free childcare allowance, so £200 a month extra, might flog the 4080 at the weekend.

Gainward and PNY don't inspire much confidence when there boxes look faded and tatty day 1. Sure you cheap out on the box, but let me trust you with a expensive graphics card #boxbias
 
If I had a 4090 I would not eb up[grading, but I'm on a 3090 and in certain VR games I'm hitting the stops (Flight sims).

I've recently gotten the 9800x3d, so this would be a great addition to that and should serve me well for the next 4 years. Same as the last rig did (5800x and 3090)

I've had PSUs costing 100 quid that come with a nice canvas bag the psu sits inside and another drawstring canvas bag for the cables.

you buy a graphics card for 1k+ and they are worried about spending 2pence on the ink

9800x3d and 5090 will be amazing for MSFS

I don't think the 5090 will be twice as fast as the 5080, probably more like +50% but we're at a point now where the 80 class only exists in name only, you either buy a 5090 or the next card down is really the 70 class rebadged and repriced.

Wish we can bring back the GPU designs of the 90s and 2000s, let's see a GPU with a OLED screen on the front showing an animation of an anime girl with jiggle physics

The real question is will they position the 5090 as an easy upsell to the 5080 (like last gen) or price it worlds apart.

Still if they are cheaping out on what the customer can see, what are they cheaping out on internally? It dosnt inspire much confidence in a £1000-2000 product. Especially when the rivals all produce packaging just fine.

Reminds me of a product you'd see abroad that's been sitting in the sun for years on end, unsold.
