Very good value if you earn enough. Some people's yearly bonus is £200,000+. The 5090 is just loose change to high salaried people. They probably spend more to have their swimming pool cleaned.

The 5080 and below are for ordinary people. I'm an average earner so I just focus on average priced items. A low earner might think the things I buy are crazy. Its all relative.

I'm on not far off minimum wage but my mortgage is cheap and I have no kids. I use my PC everyday in some capacity (games, home theater, productivity etc). Worth it for me. Only need to save up the first time then pay a little bit every few years for next upgrade.

No (for most) because the cards less than £1000 will also last 4 years. There’s very little ‘value’ in it - most games don’t suddenly become ‘twice as fun’ if they look prettier IMO, even if it does add to the enjoyment and yes ‘pretty’ is always nice.

It’s a luxury.

you dont need to earn 200k to be able to class a 5090 as chump change. realistically a person can just put aside 200 pounds for 12 months only and they have a new 5090 they can buy. A lot of people even in low income can easily spend that £200 on booze/resturants for example which incidently, is healthy to cut out.

Obviously use it to the extent you need a 5090 not an igpu or a lesser gpu.
There is good resale on cards now aswell so the money isn't a complete write off like in years gone by.
Probably looking at losing 1.5k in 4 years, if you use it plenty to its full extent its not too bad.
For me I've barley even touched my 4090 in 1.5 years, I got it new for £1350 but still not worth it for how little I've used it.

not just about looks but playable framerates. if you only play at 30-40fps, a uplift of 60-80fps makes a difference

Yeah. Personally I like asus products, I have a strix x870E-E and it's a great board. The astral looks insane and I would love to get one but I'm waiting to see the prices, hoping they're not too crazy
