York - Pub and Restaurant Recommendations Please

Hi Peeps

I'm looking for a few recommendations to take some overseas colleagues to a few characterful pubs in York. I've been several times and know my way around ok but I've only been with the kids in tow so good real ale pubs was not hte highest priority.

I'm thinking of going to the Kings Head the Sam Smiths pub next to the river but a few other suggestions would be cool.

Also any restaurant recommendations? There will be 8-12 of us based on normal attendance we haven't done a curry in a long while but anything mid priced and fun would be cool too.

Went a few years ago and had lunch in Skosh which was excellent. There was a cheese soufflé starter that was fantastic
Meltons was also v good, but it was full of older people, like us, so there wasn’t a vibe as such

Things to do in York

I’m going for a long weekend in York the last weekend of the month any recommendations? I’ve seen the cat walk and a lot of confectionary related things to do, that take my fancy.

Yeah it has been flooded last 2 times I've been to York. This isn't for a few months so hopefully better by then.

My current list of possible boozers are House of the Trembling Madness, Kings Arms, Pinvini, Golden Fleece, Three Tuns and Blue Boar.
Considering Trembling and Viceroy for food. Not sure How much time I'll have so I might try and organise an activity to mix in with the pub crawl. But need to be sensible we all have to work next day.

I have not been out boozing in York for years so not really clued up on the best places to go, the ones you have chosen people I know like them and as you have said you have been before so that helps and good luck with work lol.
