So I have a few devices (especially smart tags) that use these.
From what I gather the rechargeables are not great.

Does anyone have any first hand knowledge or brands that are any good? Or is it best to avoid?

As a generalisation non-rechargeable CR2032s have much higher capacity, much lower self-discharge and much higher shelf life than rechargeable.

I've never had any problems with Duracell coin cell batteries aside from the odd one leaking if left in storage for several years.

CR2032 cells aren't rechargeable.

ML2032 cells are. But so many of them are fake, and they're just CR2032s labelled as ML2032s.

I wouldn't be taking the risk with lithium cells, no sireeee

I buy packs of six for about 99p, JCB brand. Used in my garage door opener. They usually last a couple of months each

is there more than one brand/maxell on the legit market
In all the apps I have hrm, tv remote, tyre-pressure gauge - the self-discharge from intermittent use, need to recharge, would offset any cost saving.

similar issue - got to the bottom of at the weekend - had previously given up on the learning capability of an AAA powered universal remote/urc, which had also had some similar reviews;
it was failing because I was using nimh 1.2v rechargeables not 1.5v alkalines, like I knew bike led light fails - need to investigate getting some lion rechargeable

I went for standard ones in the end.
These are not devices I want to have 50pc less battery life on really. Aa/aaa types are fine. They are great. But seems like these button types just have too many minus points

we got it on the first minus.

for AA/AAA in bike lights these have a much higher current demand and won't work on nimh, so identifying a lion replacement would be more economic,
seemingly £4/5each on aliexpress versus £1 for energizer's I buy.

I've found that many Duracell and Energizer branded 2032 cells bought off Amazon and eBay do not last. I don't know if they're outright fakes, but I only get a couple of months out of them.

Energizer or Duracells bought from Tescos last much longer, presumably as they're from a reliable source.
