NVIDIA RTX 50 SERIES - (PRE)ORDER DISCUSSION **NO COMPETITOR HINTING**

I was lucky enough to get one of these within the 30 seconds they were available. It should arrive tomorrow. After basically being a bit obsessed since the 30th at 2pm, I've been smashing F5 on about 20 websites constantly at all hours of the day, and setting up all kinds of mechanisms for early warning. However, I've always been pipped at the post until now. In the end, I succumbed to subscribing to a bot service to give me a fighting chance. If you can't beat them, join them! My wife was also getting fed up with all this GPU talk, so it was either get one, or get divorced!

I'm coming from a 1060, so a well overdue upgrade and one that I want to last a few years, hence the 5090.

I have other pre-orders in place, in addition to a physical Gaming Trio 5080 in-hand. I won't be looking to profit from any of those, merely cancelling/returning once I have the 5090 here with me safe and sound. I'll let you know my thoughts once the new PC is built and everything is fired up.

In the meantime I fully intend to downgrade my level of obsession on this subject from 10 to a mere 3-4, purely so that I can concentrate on other things for a bit.

Good luck to everyone still in the hunt!
So you have gone from a 1060 to a 5090 did you not fancy a 4090 or was it not enough of an uplift for you?
What finally tempted you to buy a 5090 when most reviews have been negative.

My aim was a 4090 originally when I started collecting my new PC parts a couple of months ago, but knowing the 50 series was coming out I thought it was a good opportunity. In truth I had settled on the idea of the 5080, especially after the marketing blurb about how it would surpass the 4090, however, as you mention the results/reviews have been luke warm. Still a massive increase from a 1060 of course, but not quite the performance I was expecting. Not being able to have access to multiframe-gen on DLSS was the only thing at that point stopping a 4090 purchase, and of course the rising prices!

I don't want to be upgrading in 2-3 years ideally, so getting as much daylight between existing models and new ones was my aim in the end, hence the 5090. I'm also in a lucky position that my profession is in the technology arena, so I have an opportunity to claim back the VAT but to also offset my tax, meaning that whilst these cards are pricey, some of the sting is removed. My whole build has been circa £8k, so this was a fair chunk of it.

We going to be affected either way. The MSRP is gonna increase in the US which will be reflected here in the UK.

To them the £=$ so we gonna be used again to make up for the margins that they gonna lose in the US.

nVidia, AIBs and resellers will, as is tradition, latch on to any tenuous or perfidious rational to raise prices across all regions (and keep them there), like my wife does when trying to win an argument with me.

Congrats but I draw the line at paying a scalping service that sends out late notifications to those that don't pay monthly

I respect that, and I was much the same until I'd finally had enough of watching stock disappear in less than a minute. My thought was that if someone is going to get it, then why can't it be me?

In the end it cost me £11 for the month of subscription (which I only needed for a day), which in contrast to the £2.5k card is a tiny price to pay.

subscription to what? you paid 11 pounds to subscribe to a service that told you where u can buy a 5090 from, and you got a card in day one?

The thing charges you £4.99 for early notification and £11 to Autobuy the card for you.
So effectively you are pretty much guaranteed a card within a couple of days for £11.

If you don't pay any subscription you get notified a minute or two later - By which point the cards will be all gone.
Autobuy will instantly buy the card for you when it shows as instock and within your maximum price point - This will buy any 5090 which comes available for the selected price so could be an MSI or a PNY, unless you do loads of manual settings and be specific of the card you want.

Hmm, sounds… a good way to get scammed / identity-thefted without recourse from your credit card :p

But perhaps that’s me being an ol’ fuddy duddy…

Yeah I'd settle for the notifications personally lol. #Chaotic Neutral.

where do you go to set that up?

Can any of the mods perma ban this guy?
On what grounds? He didn;t advertise on the MM forums looking to make a profit there which is usually insta permaban. He has not used racism, homophobia slurs, he has not personally attack anyone to the extent that it was so serious that would warrant a ban. What would be the basis of a ban? That he pre ordered a graphics card and slung it on the bay for a profit? if that was the case quite a few from the 9800x3d thread would be on there and no doubt a few from this thread would also qualify for this as well.

A member earlier posted people will move on and forget. But when you have Been here as long as I have and others. We don't forget. He has explained a few times and before he even got the 5090 that he is an enthusiast on a more moderate income. he has made no secret of this fact. then shock/disgust when he has a chance to make a bit of money which in the whole scheme of things is not a lot of money but for him it is. Or maybe people take issue as he has previously complained about scalpers and retail scalping yet he was outed as doing the same? How many of you lot have posted about ocuk pricing policy and continue with it. Yet he is burned at the stake at it. Whether he is a scalper or not is no concern of mine as soon as Momo put up the post he was/is the last person I thought that put a price on his integrity.

He won't be the first nor the last. And like they say in a certain tv show "The north remembers"
