NVIDIA RTX 50 SERIES - Technical/General Discussion

he refunded me literally soon as I sent it over goods & services, so that was an instant red flag.

I think I remember reading it on the MM

I would have don't the exact same thing. Like I said, everyone uses F&F. You should have said your not happy with that and offered to cover the fees. would have been about £15 and obviously the seller wasn't happy with taking £15 less when the price was agreed.

Plenty of companies around that would fixed that. Probably £30 repair
Not that I could find in the ruralmidwest US in 2002. And I think I actually had damaged the PCB as well as the solder I did was very clean. I actually had it mounted on my wall all through college/uni to remind me of the dangers of not checking my work twice :)

college/uni electronics departement?
By the time I had moved to uni (which did/does have a fantastic mech-eng and semi-conductor dept), I'd moved on and bought a lovely 5800 Ultra :) Poo sandwich as my first dorm roomate turned out to be in electrical engineering. Live and learn.

Thank goodness for the hefty PCB shrouds on cards now. Time was, you could look at a card wrong and damage it. Some of the 5090 models look like you could build houses out of them.

Ridiculous sizes for a such a small pcb.
The laws of thermodynamics are immutable. 650w TDP needs a hefty HS.

How about an AIB add a peltier cooler to one of their models (remember those?) We're already in the domain of ridiculous energy usage for these cards, might as well go whole hog.

Anyone tried undervolting on 5080? What are usual ranges core speed vs volts? For OC it looks like something approx +400 on core looks fairly achievable (around 3150mhz) for most.

The amount of comments trying to pick fault, express how glad they are they didn’t buy it and how they would never pay a certain amount for something is crazy.

If everyone was banned that never bought anything on here, how many people would be left? I think many big posters would not survive

From experience - make sure you didn't make any changes in Nvidia app regarding global settings for graphics. Especially don't touch the low latency settings and try again. In my case this was completely killing fg and causing issues in many games. If not that, you might need to reinstall your os or at least run ddu first to be sure nothing is left over from old GPU.
Thanks, I don't think I've messed with the latency settings, only applied a global FPS cap, but I'll try resetting everything.

No luck with setting PCIE4 manually in the BIOS, and while clearing the shader cache initially seemed to help in Darktide performance tailed off quickly, to the point where I was seeing only 50% GPU usage and getting FPS around 80 with terrible stuttering.

Looking more and more likely a reformat is on the cards as I already ran DDU (with the network disconnected to avoid MS auto updates).

I was al forgetting one but I'm not gonna pay £ 2220 for 26%no way..my 4090 will do me til the next gen..

Despite being a big feature for RTX5000, RTX Mega Geometry actually benefits older hardware much more than new.

A 9800x3d paired with a 5080 or 5090 sees basically no performance increases with Mega Geometry. But pair a 3600 and a 2080ti and you see 15% higher framerate than before. This higher framerate applies when pairing a strong cpu with a weak GPU but especially applies with a weak CPU, the weaker the CPU the higher the frame rate increases from having mega geometry on

So overall despite Nvidia saying Mega Geometry runs best on RTX5000, it looks like gamers with older CPus and GPus will see the real benefit
