Solar panels and battery - any real world recommendations?

Shame he doesn't really seem to know what he's talking about on quite a few points, and totally dismisses batteries when they could potentially save him a fortune.
Yeah, he doesn’t know everything. I just take the rough with the smooth on that. I like his presenting style and he gives actual figures on costs and so on.

Perhaps he's won the lottery. If the invoice had gone astray you'd have thought he'd be chasing you by now, or its a very poorly managed business.

Has the tree been removed yet?

no hes pretty busy at the moment and just keeps telling me its in hand.

as for the tree its still standing. I;m on leave next week so going to start cutting all the studs ready for the framing, so i can get building as soon as the tree is down. i have everything here now except the roof osb which is only 20 mins away when i need to get it.

Harry has solar on a different scale. :D

Ive not watched this video but going by the comments... its not that big really. He moans about shading but he chose were to install them, yes winter generation is lower for obvious reasons but his panels are clearly set at a shallow angle which makes them even worse in winter, also no battery when a low cost tariff could really cut his costs in winter. Solar = summer ROI, battery = winter ROI. Thats how I look at it anyway.

I watched the video, he self consumes nearly all of his solar. His bill is £20k or something daft like that, he would need one of those containerised batteries given how much he uses.

When you are paying retail prices, install costs and the ‘you’ve got a massive house so I’m going to charge you double’ aka the artisan tax, it’s going to take a long time to break even.

Cancelled my previous order for solar and reordered the below from another company

  • 30 x AIKO 460w Neostar All Black panels
  • Mounted on the front and rear elevation
  • Bird mesh protection
  • 10kw FoxESS KH10 Hybrid Inverter
  • 2 x FoxESS 10.36kWh EP11 batteries with heating element built in
  • 1 x FoxESS EP combiner battery box
  • Scaffolding for both elevations
  • Installation
  • MCS Certification
  • HIES Insurance backed guarantee
  • G99 Application

Got a decent price, had a site survey earlier this week, G99 application made today.

Went with the Fox instead of Sigenergy as we dont need Gateway backup so no real point in paying extra for the system, also Tesla 13.5kWh battery too small for us.

Got quite a few quotes from various local and national installers and there are some chancers out there for sure, what I have learnt is, margins are quite low so getting rock bottom prices is not easy.

Looking forward to it.

Honestly for £13k that's pretty damned good. That's a shedload of potential power and I like that you've gone for so much battery storage, it'll really be a boon in winter when you charge them on cheap rate.

Keep us posted on the installation and take pics!
